Lens in for Chuba?

13 Matthew Hoppe - San Jose Earthquakes - Done
15 Anfernee Dijksteel - Charlton or QPR - still no picture of him in the new kit, Charlton would want him and I think he would suit QPR
17 Paddy McNair - Luton Town or Como 1907 - no smoke on the water without fire us being linked with Bashir Humphreys adds a bit of fuel
19 Joshua Coburn - St Mirren or Huddersfield - not on the bench at Huddersfield, he needs to step up but can we give him game time?
20 Martin Payero - Boca Juniors or Rayo Vallecano - Boca couldn't or wouldn't afford the loan that would have taken him away.. Rayo were interested.
29 Chuba Akpom - Sheff Utd or Lens - he will be missed, but it seems like all the classic signs are there for him being moved on..

2+2=5?

Club value him at £15 Mill, and won't budget till a fee of that proportion and a replacement is found
I'm sure we'll be trying to get as close to £15mil as possible but if Chuba isn't going to sign a new contract, I doubt we would be turning down offers of £10mil+ by the end of the window.

I wonder who else they’ve got in the frame.
their fans on twitter have been pretty consistent with mentioning him as being linked to a move. I can see Sheff Utd coming in when Burnley take Sander Berge of their hands.

Sheff Utd make an £8m bid, Lens make a £8m bid, Sheff Utd prepare a £10m bid..

I'm sure what had been reported is a fair bit behind the current state of play, early doors boro stated they were after £15m

I can’t see him playing again for us now. Gibson has form of accepting low bids and I’m fearful he’ll do so here.
Gibson has form for making **** decisions (or at least signing them off) on transfers full stop.

I guess we'll never know but sounds very much like Chuba is up for signing a new contract and although is no doubt asking for a lot for a championship player, doesn't sound like he's asking for a daft contract. Probably one we could afford if we wanted to. I suspect we've paid worse players more while at this level.

But I think we've decided we want to cash in (unless he's happy to stay on the cheap, which as he's the championship player of the year, not unreasonable that he won't do that).

This from the same club happy to shell out £7m for Saville and Flint and a £2m loan fee on Hugill (while allegedly "cutting costs") but who "had to" accept £7m for Bamford.

Always seems when we should make an investment we decide we're cashing in or being frugal. When we should be cautious we waste money. It's infuriating.

But then our chairman thinks Tony Pulis is some sort of footballing genius so shouldn't be too surprised.

I’m sure Boro have a replacement in their sights. But will they score enough goals to allow us to bridge the gap to the top two. If he does leave I’m sure lots of fans will be glaring in the chairman’s direction in the next home game. It’ll be sad if he does go but it gives us all time to reflect. Anything lower than £15m wouldn’t scratch the surface IMO. He’ll be a real focal point for Lens. He’ll bring laser-focus to the Lens frontline. There’s certainly a case to be made for keeping him. He’s been one of Carrick’s best pupils, let’s face it. Chuba’s a keen reader and his favourite author is Iris Murdoch. When he reads magazines, he reads Monocle. He used to watch Neighbours because he liked Karl Kennedy’s band The Right Prescription. Like a few of us, used to really fancy Eddi Reader. As for playing abroad, Chuba nose better than most how hard it can be. It’s strange because as well he did last season, he struggled at Reading. I do like the looks of Lens transfer business, there’s a real vision at that club. Some real foresight. They’re playing Fiorentina in a friendly this so he’ll come up against the Violets’ ultras. How much will we miss him? Well opinions vary. He must be signing for them because it’s all over t’internet.

As for these puns, I’m not sure they could be any cornea.
