Lens in for Chuba?

Has he even been offered a new contract?
Not rumours, but can anyone bring up a report that he has?
Of course he has, what plausible reason can you think of that would prevent us from doing so?
But he's already on big money in terms of our wage profile and it is inevitable that his expectations and our intentions leave a big chasm in the middle.

I am 99% sure we woud have offered him a better contract, but Chuba's agent probably thinks he can get lower to mid Premier League wages say £60 plus/week.

Akpom was the star of last season.
His goals and link up play were instrumental in us strolling into the playoffs.
The quality of Archer and Ramsey lifted us from hopefuls to nailed on for the Play offs.
Together they weren’t quite good enough to get us there last season.
There would be no guarantee retaining those 3 class acts would have been enough to go up.
But what is absolutely clear is that not having them makes us much weaker and as things stand leave our chances of promotion very significantly lower.
Gibson is hoping Scott’s punts will keep him in the hunt. I think he’s smoking dope.
If you can keep a class act like Akpom surely you do, especially if you don’t feel you can get the class from Villa back.

Given we’re not getting Archer, Ramsey and Giles back and have lost Watmore and losing Akpom is an undeniable huge dent, 49 out of our 84 goals gone, replaced with unknowns, who may or may not step up, you don’t get promoted on hope. Still loads of our fans #believe that Carrick is a magician and wears a magic hat, Scott is the new Paul Winstanley, Gibson is a king despite them wanting the actual King exiled and we’re gonna make the playoffs.

I have no truck with going down the route we are, but losing what we have done in goals and assists and expecting the incoming Kindergarten to hit the ground running is dubious at best. I think next season will be more likely than this for an assault on the promotion ladder personally.

So would you let Akpom run his contract down?

Doing so, and not realising a big transfer fee for him, would be financially negligent in my opinion.

Need to quantify statements like that. Yes we're more likely to be promoted with him, but how much would you say?

Give us a percentage chance with him and without him. That's what the club has to consider when making these decisions
Are we more likely to get promoted improving three positions or keeping Chuba?

THE TEAM

Author of 28 goals in the Championship last season, Akpom (27) will commit for a period of four years.

Hopefully it puts to bed that you need a 20+ a season goalscorer to go up. Us and coventry had one and didnt go up.
