Luke ayling thoughts

After the initial love in for luke which was fab to seešŸ˜Š

Where are we with him now Several games in ?

It appears leeds were OK letting him.go and I'm thinking we can see why now

I feel he is leggy and out of position frequently but then will produce a peach of a ball or a decent tackle and I think he still has the spark within him....

We need more than the occasional spark...

What do we think
Am I seeing this wrong ?

Our full back position has been a thorny issue since George friend and I loved Ryan Giles as well as an attacking full back

He's just steady away, a mid to higher championship right back. He's got long hair and has a bit of a personality though, so he gets noticed more.

He's someone who is filling in a job as we have lost our best RB in Tommy Smith for the season.

Once Dijksteel is up to speed, I would start him, instead of Ayling.

Ayling once was a very good RB for this division, but he's well past his best.

A decent loan signing to help cover the injuries we've had, but not someone we will keep or look back at with great fondness

Meh
Wouldn't fit our wage structure
Doesn't really add much to the team
Probably a bit better defensively than Djiksteel but not as good going forward
On balance I would prefer Djiksteel

He's an adequate stopgap, nothing more, nothing less.

I'd play Dijksteel ahead of him as he's our player and, for my money, adds a bit more going forward.

I know a lot of Leeds fans and did say at the time they all thought his legs had gone and he struggled to recover position. They didn't even want him as back up right back remember?

But I thought his experience and leadership might still be useful. Might still prove to be. Beggars can't be choosers.

We need better for next season.

He's abit like George Friend when he left us for Birmingham is past his best and not good enough for a side higher up the division.

I would much rather we played Dijksteel as he's a top top RB in this league but never gets a run of games under Carrick

Exactly what I said when we first signed him

We went for a name and a personality over his technical contribution to the team or his pace. Attitude over abiliteh.. ffs

We are massively fcuked. I thought Keiron Scott was giving it big licks that we had a list of three or four players to cover for every position.. to cover for every eventuality.

All of our director of football types seem to do is.. pick up the phone to Aston Villa!

When it comes to right backs.. well.. it is what it is.
