Specky - message from “Agent Fox” - Thomas is a very good player.
Still only 22, having made 68 appearances in the Premiership - well over three times more than Cameron Archer, for instance.
Leicester's current Manager doesn't want him.
My two Foxes Season cardholders [for over 40 years] are impressed by him, and they've seen some players in their time.....(y)

To be fair she did go on to qualify the original assessment with stuff like 'gets up and down ' 'lot of energy ' 'will do a job'. Not exactly a ringing endorsement but I'm sure we Boro fans are more tolerant and forgiving.

Got a text from “Agent Fox” to say “This lad did very, very well for us last year” — and that's with two different Managers, no settled side, other players on the beach and the wheel coming off at King power. He's not Mr “average”, more a cut above some of those we've got in the squad.

Also consider that she has only watched him play at Premier League level and at 20-21 year old.

I'm sure there'll be Luton fans that wouldn't give Giles the greatest review.

I had a look on Sheff Utds board and their fans absolutely slate Archer on there. When a teams struggling in the Premier League lots of players who would do well in the Championship get pelters.
He's played in some big games already, started in the FA cup final, Semi final of the European U21 championships, won both games.
Think he'll be a good signing.

He’s got some talent this kid, very good going forward, but needs some work defensively, probably in the Ryan Giles mould, still a massive upgrade on Engel, mind you if we’d signed a kid from the National league that would be an upgrade. He will be straight in the team and Engel thankfully will be warming the bench for hopefully the remainder of the season, and then we can maybe recoup £500k of his transfer fee back, if he plays another minute we’d be lucky to give him away

Sure I read Leicester have a years option on him?
You may be right.

He's a local lad from a village just north of Leicester and been with them since the age of 7/8. The two Foxes Season cardholders I know well [“Agent Fox”] say he went off the boil when Dean Smith took over from Brendan Rogers, swapped and changed - trying to save Leicester's relegation in the final seven games. I think they all just played out the inevitable, including Maddison and Tielemans.

Thomas will have grown up watching Michael Carrick play for England, winning trophies for Manchester United, including Europe and the Prem. Carrick could be just what the lad needs, and he'll give him motivation and rejuvenate his career.

Hoping for good things.

My godson plays for Leicester U23s - I have asked him for a bit of detail about the lad
So in short

Can be brilliant but not really kicked on since he had his breakthrough. Not helped by playing for a poor LCFC last year and an even worse SUFC this year. Thinks he needs time in Championship to get his confidence back and thinks he will do very well at our level.

Being defensively minded and left sided, he'll definitely add to the balance of our available squad.
If he's got half a turn of pace then even better.
Seems a very logical signing given our current squad situation.

That the same Engel who was superb in the first leg against Chelsea? Who was great against the best team in this league Leicester City. Excellent when we battered Sunderland?
Yeah he was crap this week against Chelsea but so were virtually all of his teammates.
He's done fine, complete and total nonsense to compare him in any way to a National league player.
