Luke Thomas confirmed

That the same Engel who was superb in the first leg against Chelsea? Who was great against the best team in this league Leicester City. Excellent when we battered Sunderland?
Yeah he was crap this week against Chelsea but so were virtually all of his teammates.
He's done fine, complete and total nonsense to compare him in any way to a National league player.
Engel had his 2 best games for Boro against Villa and Chelsea in the home leg but on the whole he's been really poor. It's obviously been identified as an area to be improved by MC. We've struggled at full back on both sides of the pitch this season and it's great to see that we've went and strengthened both of these positions with loans in this window.

Not an exciting signing this IMO But needs must.

Blades fans weren’t impressed.

I think him and Ayling are great signings. Carrick obviously not happy with how many goals we've shipped this season and these two will give our defence much more balance. I think we'll see a lot more 3 CB and wing backs in the second half of the season too.

Wasn't the reason Luke Thomas left Sheff Utd and isn't being played at Leicester because he's a full back who can't play wing back?

I think bringing him in suggests we'll be a back four... Ayling - Fry - RVDB - Thomas.

They're not impressed with Cameron Archer!
18 appearances, 3 goals.
I wouldn't listen to them.
Thomas [like Archer] was a good player in a s**t side:- drag everybody down to their level.
Along with their Manager!

Yeah, I was going to say exactly the same thing, one of the first threads on their message board is about Archer, and it's pretty much "hope he goes back to Villa.' A few of them saying they should have signed Akpom instead!
Any player who stands out in a side massively struggling at the bottom of the premier league is going to be already a top class player. Not the sort of player we can sign at the moment.

We've brought him in because Bangura is injured long term and we're left with one Left Back.
Engel isn't perfect but he's done fine and will play a part in the rest of our season.

I would be very surprised if we played 3 at the back again bar Leicester / Southampton A

Delighted to sign him and ayling ive been saying all season that our substandard fullbacks were the biggest weakness in the team. So to get two good fullbacks in this window is fantastic. Just need a decent striker and we should motor up the league

Brilliant. Because we need another full back. Great. Game changers

Not that anyone else has spotted it, but we really, really need a striker. Like, a lot

Using equally as snipey a post

" Excellent.. as nobody since Mcgree / Bangura actually wants to play on the left , for you know, like REALLY more than ten minutes " ......

Maybe we could get ANOTHER forward , that you know.. scores 1: 2 that no one has noticed ??

Maybe sell Rogers , and the east stand , .. and buy Archer from Villa for 22 mill ?!

Another option is we ask O'Brien to , yet again, fill in at left back , if our only left back gets injured .
If I was him , I'd like to play centre mid next year
We're in a prime position to get him ...
Playing him left back ain't a selling point to him.
Especially after a 3month out .

I agree we need a CF for a play off run , however, we've two on the bench that won't get a game , and one left foot in the squad fit for at least a month.

If L,E left the Chelsea game not 100% fit, wouldn't you get another ?

Well as things stand nothing has changed. Villa have not reached our valuation so he will stay. It seems unlikely villa will get to the 15 million that we want, Rogers has already said that he won't try and force a move. The club have no reason to sell him until their valuation is met.

On the subject of luke tomas. He will compete for the lb spot with engel and bangura when fit. He isn't an immediate slot in.

One poster was particularly dismissive of engel. I don't doubt that when Thomas has a bad game he will be on his back too.

Gotta love some of our support.

Nice addition.

Helps out

The rest is speculation

Do we need a striker with Forss going up top

How long are Coburn and Lathe out for

It's quite difficult to know what we need given we don't know the state of most of our injuries.

Hopefully coburn is close to full fitness. No idea about latte lath, Carrick doesn't give much away.

I'll be a bit surprised if we get a striker. Whilst we don't have a 25 goals a season player, we have more goal scores than last year who will pitch in. This is something Carrick alluded to at the start of the season.
