Lunch out...Plus my ratings of local places to try

Eating out has become really expensive. Not sure if that’s or if having 2 children that means I’m more careful about eating out now
We definitely dont do it as much as we used to, we would do 4/5 times a month now its 1/2 times. For anything above average you're looking at £35-£40 for two adults with a drink or two each.

Lion Inn at Kirkbymoorside.

Massive portions although a bit pricey. Some of the best kept real ales in North Yorkshire including the best pint of Old Peculier you'll ever have. Kid friendly and dogs allowed in the bar area too.

Will add it to my list!

One I did forget to add was the Downe Arms Castleton 3/10! I'd heard rave reviews about the best parmo people have ever had so on our way back from Whitby one day we decided to drop in. We got the parmo platter to share with 4 differing toppings, of the top of my head it was close to £30 so we expected a decent portion size. What turned up was a disaster, it was basically one large parmo cut into 4 with toppings on, I would of at least expected two decent sized parmos cut up. One of the 'parmos' was no more than a bite each. We complained about the sizing which was met on deaf ears. Maybe it was an off day but we certainly wont be going back.

Wow where do you go MacDonald's ?
4 drinks will cost you over 20 Bar these days

Couple of places to add on:

Lebaneat - 9/10
The Mill - 8/10 - Food was good, not mind blowing but certainly no complaints from either of us but a special mention to the man serving, very attentive and polite
Salam - The Ethiopian and Eritrean opposite the new art college 8/10! We shared a platter of 4 mains each which all come on a pancake type bread (No cutlery available), No idea what we ate but all of it was awesome

Update:

The Vane Arms, Thorpe Thewles was very very good and the staff where fantastic, 8/10. A young girl served us maybe 19/20, very attentive, offered us a plate for the little one and all round nice girl. The training they receive in there must be top notch so fair play. Often its the service what ruins a good place.

Scruffy Duck, Norton - 2/10. I admit this is a harsh review considering I didnt actually eat here in the end but we waited nearly 45 minutes for the food to be told it would be another 20 minutes when we asked how long. This was a Monday afternoon with a lot of spare tables and no warning that there would be a wait for food. I am sorry but over an hour to wait for a bar meal is just not good enough. We cancelled ours as we had to be elsewhere and the our friends stayed, they said it was disappointing at best, especially with the wait.

Finzi's artisan pizza, Yarm. 8/10. Amazing Pizzas and fair deals during the day, we got two slices and two cans of pop for £10 (I think) and their pastries are to die for, highly recommended for a snack on a bench along the river.

The next place on our list is Lebaneat in Yarm so will report back!

Happy eating :)
What about muse in yarm no report for there

This is of no value as I live in toddington but I took the wife and daughter out for a late lunch today, about 3pm. We tried 5 different places that had stopped serving food and we had given up. We were driving back through Steppingly and there was a pub called the french horn, so we thought we would try it.

The food was delicious, and a varied menu. 3 mains plus drinks 60 quid, so a bargain to boot.

If I am ever passing through Steppingly I will make sure to stop at The French Horn!

Devonport Hotel at Middleton One Row. Great for lunch after a walk along the river.
On Dec 26 you get to hit a golf ball over the river before you eat.
