HE was a marquee signing for sunderland....but at 33 he wouldn't have been for us or many other sides. That's the point. HE's no Alan Boksic, Ravanelli, Viduka in his prime etc. Not even Ziege, Karembeu level. He hadn't won the world cup, champions league, spanish titles, and wasn't the next big thing like Juninho or Emerson not at 33. But that epitomises Sunderland, a big thing for them is signing a 33 year old. They got a good stint out of him, but he had swanned off to MLS after a year bench warming, he was running his career down but somehow eked another 2 decent years out. A 30 plus marquee has to be coming from Barca, Milan, Real not Toronto FC
