And it comes back to Brexit. Starving kids, incompetent ministers and downright nasty policies are nothing in the face of this.

Whilst I can understand why people felt like that I just don’t see how creating more poor, ‘under educated’ people helps, that’s just my opinion, for me helping children to get a better education to make better informed decisions on subjects would be a primary driver over the ‘under educated’ have spoken so we all should listen, it’s interesting that Labour were seen by many as out of touch with the poor yet the Conservative’s, who by and large have made them poor are seen as their saviours, I said at the time it felt like Stockholm Syndrome.

Of course everyone should vote as they see fit and at no point did I mention she should have voted Labour, no derision on my part, just a sense of surprise that someone in your wife’s position would think that the Conservative minifesto, it was too brief to be called a manifesto, was the best option given what she will have witnessed over the past few years and the alternatives from several parties that seemed more beneficial to the education of the deprived and poor.

I apologise if my astonishment came across as derision, was not my intention, my wife works in education and so I’m aware of some of the harrowing things that your wife will face on a regular basis, and knowing that it was a difficult thought process to understand why she would vote for more of the same.

I have no interest in the PL & very little I England, maybe I'm a old foggie, everytime a new kid comes on to the block it's of little intetest to me, Boro 1st & 2nd but I can't sing this lads praises hig enough for what he's done in such a small period, was it 4, 5 days amazing

For me we should be looking at what he's done for me 👍

I remember during the election campaign and people were being interviewed whilst using the food bank and saying they were going to vote for Johnson. It felt absolutely unbelievable at the time hearing that but look what happened, perhaps the country and the people get the government we deserve after all.

With respect and whilst totally understanding what you’re saying, E74, Rashford should rightfully be praised to the hilt but you can’t ignore the reason and context behind his actions, like you say, it’s fantastic what he has done, but shameful that it needed doing.

Definitely a shoe in for sports personality of the year. Hopefully the queen has him and the people who helped him set up his charity on the Xmas list too.

He should be AM, but there are times when it should be only about an incredible achievement, as opposed to but........

As is usually the case other things get brought in to it & we end more away from the wow impact than ever

You are probably the last one I will question on here as you'll come back at me & as usual I'll end up agreeing with you 🙄
 
I am so glad the decision has been overturned and the PM listened to Marcus Rashford.
Rashford is rightly a hero now, whatever team anyone supports he deserves respect. I hope this helps with race relations not just in football, but in life in the UK.

I do not wish to add a downside to this joyous thread about a young black British footballer who has shown light in dark times. My only fear or worry, and I am sorry to be cynical, but is it genuine from our Government, or just opportunism to say, we are listening to our black brothers and we are listening. If It was from Gareth Southgate, would Johnson have listened? I hope so, but this Government has put down a marker, butthey have much, much more ground to cover to prove it is more than a deflection with me.

Whatever happens, I want Sir Gareth, Johnson and every football fan to join as one and ensure Marcus receives recognition. I would hope and pray that football can use this as a start to kickout racism and have every clubs supporters chant Rashfords name in solidarity between now and August, including Man City and Liverpool. This is bigger than football.
 
Unbelievable with all that’s going on that his colour gets brought into it.
wouldnt it be great if we just called him Marcus rashford. As long as we have black Marcus rashford and plain old Gary lineker there will always be division.

it’s a great thing he has done by the way
