Mark Robins post match statement.

we just didn’t fully commit as a team when we attacked a bit to frightened of them hitting us on the break which is natural but all the games were we scored the goals we fully committed to the attacking side of our game and blew teams away with quick goals still proud of the way we play though just lost form and players at the wrong time roll on next season utb

we were never going to pass through them . the work on the flanks was poor . giles did ok first half 2nd less so . i like dijksteel going forward . not alias smith and jones . i think it has to be alas smith and jones

The only way we could change is to go to a system which the team are not geared up for, it's just one of them things, we could have quite easily nicked the goal they did.

Had we tried a different game it could have been even harder, but having a few injuries and player changes recently really haven't helped us, and it hurt the form.
exactly, if we'd had a fit howson forss and ramsey they wouldn't have done what they did to us....defended for their lives for 2 full games and took their chance when it finally arrived...

Tiny margins sometimes, Chuba's shot is a couple of inches lower it goes in rather than hits the bar, Jones starts his run a fraction of a second later he's onside and his goal counts. Then I think we'd have won.

Tactically it wasn't just them putting men behind the ball, the decision to play Allen instead of the other striker Godden meant they had four central midfielders to nullify our threat in the middle. If we got past that their three CBs stopped everything by fair means or foul

They were better than us last night though, and Robins has done an incredible job for them and I hope they beat Luton.

That's the frustration for me.

They made a tactical tweak to nullify us and Carrick didn't do anything about it until we were a goal down.

By then it was too late, we were never going to break them down.

I was surprised with our tactics first half. Sensible to use the wings against a back three and play round the side of them but every cross was a high one. Their CBs would lap them up all night long.

Was crying out for Wilders favourite, the cut back from the goal line along the deck.

Worked in the first game though, we should have won that, worked in the play off first leg too, coming away with a draw is job done.

He probably thought we were most likely to score first last night with our current system, and we were, but we just didn't.

Once we got to half time the game plan would have been to keep it as it was till 60-70 minutes and then bring on the fresh subs to go at them, but we never got that far. Conceding a goal at that time was very bad timing if there ever was one. Had they scored first half we would have had a big change around at halftime, and had we made it to 70 mins or so it would have been harder for them to counter as they would have tired more.

Just one of them things I think, and always easy to say what you should have done, after the event, based on a timing before the event wasn't even supposed to happen.

We never really rattled them enough - some teams we can beat by playing short inticate fast paced passing, but they were on us like a shot when we got into their half - sometime you would see 3 or 4 on them on Chuba. I felt we could have more forward passes in the channels, but those channels were very narrow. As said our right side as some square pegs in round holes too. With hindsight we looked a bit better with Djkesteel and Jones on the right.

Our slowish build up suited their defenders and to me we are too frightned to lose the ball - players like Archer feed off panic, but we were not panicing their defence by playing early direct balls - sometimes you have to tweak your style.

Did it? We had two chances all game and didn’t play well 2nd half. Those tactics didn’t exactly work in the league game either.

We played exactly the same way in the three matches, Robins studied us and changed their system to swamp us in midfield.

It was obvious at half time it wasn’t working and we came out in exactly the same way, they scored first and that was it.
