Massive week ahead

Reading the Burnley messageboard. Their fans in meltdown and they've only played 2 games against top 10 reams and have spent £77million. Its all par for the course if a club has a losing streak.
Alot of their fans saying they're playing with all new players, none of the team that got them promoted are playing.

Gazette just posted this, along with signs that we're getting a striker in on loan to compete with Lath.

-Boro recruitment staff would like to add as many as three new players in that time, with another striker, an attacking midfielder to replace Chuba Akpom and a midfielder to compete with Jonny Howson believed to be on their wishlist.

There had been tentative earlier looks at right-backs too while the prognosis of pre-season injuries to Tommy Smith and Anfernee Dijksteel remained unknown. But the former's return at West Brom (albeit a nightmare one that ended early with a red card) appears to have eased the need in that department.

Well saying the top of the pitch is OK but then going on to say we should sign Willock and Stewart for 2.

Top of the pitch I said the lads will score goals.
However Willock and Ross Stewart will surely never be cheaper than they are currently due to contract situations. Madness when you think you could potentially get both for what we paid for George Saville or Flint.

I realise wages etc come in to play but these will improve the group.

And the injury situation with the Loch Ness Drogba might mean he can't pass a medical? He's had a couple of long spells out last season, gotta be a worry.

Using our average ppg so far this season, where do you think we'll finish?

🙃
That’s just another way of saying all teams form (good or bad) will continue throughout the season. Coventry had 1 point in the first 4 games last year but I’ve got this jogging feeling they didn’t finish the season with 0.25ppg

Do you think we will go for loans . Bit odd that Carrick Came out yesterday saying loans are not the way forward and they are more beneficial for the loaning team than us.

The reality is Morgan Rogers is our number 10. It may take a while for him to gain the experience to be as good as we need him to be but he will only get there by playing.

Personally i think the top of the pitch is ok them lads will score goals and they will all improve by playing.

The obvious weakness is RB - Tommy Smith is a good solid pro but he should not be first choice we need a RB who is athletic and can recover as we play so attacking. TS just cant get back

CB - We need a proper aggressive ball winning CB to partner Lenihan - Dael is going backwards i honestly think he needs a change of scenery to kick on.

MF I love Jonny but we need help in there Hackney is trying to do too much. Is Brownhill actually available? Can we scout a young George B? a young Leadboots? Onyeka too hopefull

Then go and get Ross Stewart from Sunderland. That will give us a proper alternative to LL and not crooks.

Surely pur vast scouting teams and KS can find someone to fill these positions.

Also sell McNair, Give away Payero to a spanish team and get a big sell on clause in the deal if possible.

Id also stick a cheeky bid in for Willock from QPR if you can get him back to his best he will be a star for us. Contract coming to an end we should be all over it
If that is the reality the God help us!!

I really hope (if we sign some players this week) that they trickle in during the week and it’s not all deadline day nonsense.

I’m very curious as to what type of striker we will be looking for. Will it be a like for like with Latte Lath? Quick, direct and looking to run in behind. Or will it be someone to change the game plan for a plan B? Someone who can win the aerial battle in the box, roll some defenders with the ball at his feet type? I think even with Archer and Akpom last year when it wasn’t working for us we didn’t have anyone to change it up which I think we are lacking.

We will only loan players if none of our targets can be landed

I don’t get the point of loaning Coburn out and bringing someone else in, especially if it’s on loan. He’d get plenty of game time with us, as I don’t think Lath can last 90 mins, given how much he legs it about.
Coburn is only young but has scored goals no matter what level he has come up against. I can only imagine that Plymouth have said he is going to play most weeks and he will gain more than staying here. We would need a decent replacement for me to understand our thinking though.

I know! It was tongue firmly in cheek.

Keifer Moore is maybe available I'd heard. If the plan B is a Crooks sized player then he'd maybe be a good option. I think (although Carrick seems to disagree) that Forss could be the smaller/quicker/direct option to rotate in and out with Lath as required, with Jones / Silvera covering the right.

I do think a big part of our current issues is that the ball isn't sticking much anywhere currently, so we're constantly on the go and getting over run. Archer and Akpom held the ball and occupied the defence much better than the current options are.

Although Moore doesn’t fit what I'd perceive our style to be, Carrick seems to have been more than happy to use Crooks up top when he's had plenty of other options. I think Moore would be an enormous upgrade on Crooks/Coburn/Muniz in that role.

But whether he's actually available, affordable and would come for a (probable) rotation role seems pretty unlikely.

“Nottingham Forest have received three loan enquiries from Middlesbrough, Ipswich and Coventry as well as Leeds having long standing interest, Forest want to sell permanently or with Loan and obligation to buy, however may be forced to loan if no buyer is found.” - Alan Nixon
