Matt Clarke?

The mythical left footed CB.

Fully fit, we will smash the league and win the Carabao and FA Cups........

To be fair he looked very good in his first couple of games. Shame about his injury though, hope he pulls through

Did he?! I remember him looking lost at sea more than anything else, but I can’t remember when that was. It was during the Wilder slump.

Give the lad a chance. Lenihan looked like a carthorse playing under Wilder.
I'm basing it on seeing him many times before we signed him. He's terrible, and always has been, at least for the level we want to be at. Light years away from Lenihan's pedigree and ability.

That is simply not true his record as fans favourite at a succession of good clubs speaks for itself. Boro were very keen for him to have that op. And they are very optimistic about what he can do for us this season.

We need two good centre backs to get promoted and, in my mind, we don’t currently have that.
Championship promotion is a step beyond Dael Fry and McNair. I think it might also be beyond Lenihan.
Clarke seems a long term bonus but even then he likely won’t reach the heights.
I’d say Ben Gibson(back then) is the minimum standard.

Is that why he won player of the year at Portsmouth (twice), Derby and WBA?

Waste of space he didnt cut it the first time its the reason you havent seen him since along with his injury.

Saw him sat in the West Upper for the Coventry league game, so if he can walk up there he can’t be that far off(!)
Not 100% sure but I seem to remember there being a lift for the directors box in the centre of the west stand from when I had a season ticket there a few seasons ago. May just be my memory playing tricks on me though.🤔

Lenihan was class under Carrick last season. Both defending and with the ball at his feet. We aren't getting anyone better than him in the Championship.

I agree neither Fry or McNair are the answer as his partner though. Fry does a job and I prefer him to McNair but there's room for improvement.

I would be willing to give Clarke a chance. Like others have said, he looked class on his debut. He got steadily worse with each game after that but if he was playing injured then it's understandable. He's been well thought of everywhere he's been.

Your mind is sound Aztec, there is a lift to the West stand upper. A couple of the old chaps who sit near me use it from time to time, depending on how their arthritis is playing up. I also used it after my hip replacement for a couple of home matches.

He's a footballing centre half so he's got that in his locker.

I said a while ago that he might have been the perfect mix between Fry and McNair; the defensive strengths of the former and the ability to play out of the latter.
