Micah Richards - what does he know?

Gary Neville is a well balanced pundit, probably the best that I've heard, which is not a lot mind
Agreed. He makes his point very well and attempts to be objective. Football pundits are pretty bad compared to other sports I think. Rugby Union has some excellent people like Will Greenwood, Ugo Monye and a few others.

Neville is on another level to any pundit. Most knowledgeable by some distance. I like Richards too to be honest
Same. I think Richards is decent and comes across as a good bloke who doesn't take himself serious. The contrast between him and Keane is quite amusing actually.

Yeah they make for good entertainment if not the best insight. Monday night football is best for insight and super Sunday is good for a laugh.

He knows quite a bit more than us I'd imagine.
Are you aware of the amount of ex professional footballers, FIFA coaching badge holders and International managers post on this board? A former England international couldn't hold a candle to many of the FMTTM posters in a footballing knowledge contest :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I like him.
He's always happy, communicates effectively and bounces off the other pundits.

Then there's the added benefit that he's of the same age and generation as many of the current players, so his insights are more relevant.

I find Micah Richards to be a wholly likeable person to be honest.
For all Keane's ability and achievements I find he brings down any game he comments on. I could imagine going to him at half time after Messi and Ronaldo have shared 12 goals in a 6-6 game full of drama and excitement and he'd be bemoaning something or someone rather than revelling in the entertainment.

To be fair, being an ex footballer does not make you necessarily better qualified to pass constructive comment on football. In fact, I would go as far as to say that in many cases, a well rounded and educated person from another trade who watches football regularly and is really passionate about the beautiful game, can often offer a well spoken viewpoint with a critical eye. Some of the ex-professionals I know or have met don’t always even understand the rules 😁. FMTTM has some very knowledgeable posters as will many clubs boards. Not everyone is a 100% clouded in bias.

I think his personality was probably a big factor in him getting the job. He does like a good banter.

As for his punditry though, can't say I'm impressed. He was really trying to big up De Geas' performance last night, then when he showed the clips every save was a routine save.

I like him. Brings a different character to it, upbeat and positive, has played football relatively recently compared to others. Keane and Souness are both very good

I think Murphy is dire, Shearer has gone downhill, Carragher says nothing of value, Redknapp - don’t get me started on him.

In the end it’s all about opinions....

Agree with all that, Souness is a must 👍

I think he's v good along with Jenas and Wrighty esp compared to Shearer, Lawrenson, Carragher, Redknapp, Owen and some others. At one time I thought he was going to be our greatest ever player, sad that injury robbed him of a brilliant career on the pitch

I think there's a future on Soccer AM or A League of Their Own for him.

My original point was that he's on every major broadcast at the minute and yeah, he brings a perspective of having recently played but he isn't a good at communicating it. But I can't knock the idea of bringing new blood in, having had years of the same voices drone on.

I dont mind Richards. I get irrated by Danny Murphy i find him quite condescending but shearer and Ian wright are the worst. They are a terrible combination together on motd absolutely no insight. You can see why shearer was terrible as a manager he has no intellect at all.
