Just watched it on the MFC website. You can see how frustrated he is that we've not managed to get the three points in these last two games and keep the play off dream alive. He looks absolutely gutted.

He clearly has a winning mentality and a real determination to be successful. You don't spend that many years playing in that Man Utd midfield if you don't have that.

Stick with Michael and we will be fine. I really hope he signs a new contract as he's a great fit for our club.

I think too many of our fans were too quick to write off our play-off chances this season. Fans were saying it was over in February, after we'd lost to Bristol City and Preston.

I know it's looking almost certain now that we won't make the play-offs, but I felt writing off the play-offs when we still had so many points to play for was the wrong attitude, and remember thinking I hope Carrick and the players don't have the same attitude.

The team has definitely given it a good go in the end but I guess it was too little too late. If only Lath had have returned from injury a month earlier.

carracks done ok so far, but next season ,if we don't start well, then the pressure will really be on him I feel,i feel we could have done a bit better this season with the players we have ,despite a lot of injuries, well see!!!

He was clearly gutted. We had 2 pretty decent chances to win it. Although that save from Clarkes header was as good as I've seen. I don't think he could have done much more. I think Jones has to score. Yet that's maybe harsh.

We've got draws at Southampton / Hull and Ipswich in recent weeks. It shows we are a decent side. They would be terrific results normally.

Unfortunately these are not the games that have cost us. It's the likes of Rotherham / Plymouth home and away. Also failure to beat the likes of Sunderland and Blackburn at home. We had enough chances in all these games to have won.

You have to wonder 'what would have been' had we had even half of the injuries we've had. That and Latte Lath or Forss / Coburn fit. Far too many games without a CF. That spell of Greenwood or Silvera up top😒

It does kind of make the prospect of next season exciting if we can add a bit of quality. It's not as big a rebuild as the previous summer. Although clearly that's dependent on who leaves.

I just hope we can match Carricks ambitions. The first thing I'd like to see in the summer is him sign a new contract. He's going into his final year. I think he's the man for our longterm project. I'd be surprised if he's not linked to some summer vacancies.

I doubt he will let the players go into a 'on the beach' mentality for the final 3. We as fans definitely have something to play for against Leeds. It would be great to scupper there automatic chances. Although no Ayling or Greenwood for that one. So God knows who's at RB.

Carrick has had a tough task this season with a squad lacking attacking quality of last season, however we've shot ourselves in the foot too many times - with simple & avoidable goals like v Hull in the week..

We are where we deserve to be : not clinical enough in front of goal & gifting too many chances at the back - mentality & performances are not good enough..

Nothing to do with the injuries then and several key players not being available ?

Being brutally honest, I had pretty much resigned myself to Championship football in 24/25 back in Nov/Dec last year.

Yes, sounds defeatist and we know how mental the Championship is regarding teams putting a late run together and getting promoted/playoffs.

But the squad isn't quite good enough, we were decimated with injuries and there are easily 6-8 teams with as good if not better squads who have been more consistent this season.

No pop at Carrick or the club at all. Losing Chuba, Archer, Giles and Ramsay was massive and the hangover was evident. That's where we are as a club sadly, not able to match/make offers to retain these players.

So 23/24 has been largely disappointing, but a lot of positives can be taken. 3-4 quality signings will see us much, much stronger and if we manage to keep hold of Hackney for one season, one big push........🤞🤞🤞🤞

Even now I'm hugely optimistic for next season. Pressure is off a little, more focus on the relegated teams and those who failed in the playoffs. We will be in the "also rans" category, just another Championsip team which works for me👍

I don't think it was an "attitude", rather a reality.

It's been exceptionally unlikely that we'd make the playoffs for a long time now and remains so, but I'm glad we're having a strong finish because it augers well for next seasons chances.

It’s easy to say “fans were too quick to write off” our playoff chances. The evidence all pointed to that way in February. Failing to win at home to Rotherham, losing at home to Plymouth, missing so many key players, selling our most promising player with the most goal assists, uninspired performances. We didn’t look like a team bound for the playoffs and that’s exactly what has happened.

A strange season in context. Doubles over Leicester and Norwich and 10 points dropped to Plymouth and Rotherham.

we have had to many average players on the pitch at once along with players not fully fit. form was terrible. the tactics carrick tries to play are for good sides. this playing out from deep is not something a championship team like us should be relying on. carrick has cost us the play offs imo.

if he identified sooner and went back to basics, like we did at the start of this good run. we would have stopped the silly goals we concede and have more points on the board.

playing out from deep when we have barlaser greenwood clarke dieng engel thomas ayling etc is suicide man. they are all to slow. we can get away with is somewhat if there is only dieng and clarke as bad options to pass to but when its half the team its a joke. we were giving teams free chances several times a game. but it took carrick months to address.

as soon as we start to do it again we concede from it again, like hull. he needs to drop it, its horrible we all hate it and its costing us more points than anything else.

We certainly do not all hate it.

I can understand his frustration, especially yesterday, we had 2 huge chances to win it at the end and keep the slim hopes alive.
There's not much else Clarke could have done with his header, it was just a superb save, but I think Jones should have scored.

I don't think it would have mattered too much anyway with Norwich's late winner, but 6 points off still sounds a lot better than 8.

I'm glad we're ending the season in a good run of form, because it keeps a bit of positivity about the place despite ultimately failing in the goal of the season and it's a good sign for next season with players like Latte Lath finding their feet (or head).

What a load of absolute garbage. Carrick hasn't cost us the play offs, not having 90% of the players from last season for all or most of this season and horrendous luck with injuries has made it nigh on impossible to do as well as we did last season.
Most fans do not hate the fact we try and play good football, the majority of Boro fans have enough intelligence to realise if you continually lump the ball forward aimlessly you'll be a lot less successful in the long run.
Some people on this forum deserve Tony Pulis back.

I have never seen anything like this season in terms of injuries. The most important thing to do this summer is have a thorough investigation into the cause of these injuries as they have written off our season.

We have done well to finish in the top half and not be involved in a relegation battle.

I'm still fuming about letting Rogers go after 6 months as it looks like a lack of ambition and it gives our other promising players the green light to push for a move.

If, IF, we can keep our best players. Dieng, RVDB, Hackney, Jones, Mcgree, LL and add to these with nailed on starters at CDM (i think Howson and hackney is a good enough combo here but they don't play together often enough) and 10, alongside a backup to LL then I think we should hit the ground running next season.

It's just basic maths. People were saying "we're only x behind" and all they think about is we could win 3 points in the next game and catch up but that's not how it works. Those teams above us, and it was quite a few teams at one point, are all picking up points as well. You don't close a 3 point lead in one week, not over 5 or 6 teams because those teams win games as well. You can win 4 out of 6 and make no progress because the team you are chasing does the same.

There are tiers of teams in the league chasing promotion. Auto contenders, playoff certs and playoff chasers. Last season we were good enough to be in the auto contenders tier and this season we have barely even been playoff chasers.

It's been obvious for a very long time that we weren't getting promoted this season. We're still not anywhere near. It's not a few results away. It's a whole season of not being good enough. Don't make the mistake of thinking our couple of good runs is the "real us". We are a midtable championship team and we've had good runs, bad runs, terrible results and great results as expected of a midtable team.

That's fair enough but it wasn't a reality at the time, it was a feeling that fans had.

Just seemed to be that some fans would tell others to stop talking about the play-offs altogether, which felt odd to me. No harm in dreaming.

Our playoffs push was practically over in February. Even a 9 game unbeaten run hasnt got us any nearer to 6th spot. Its wishful thinking to think norwichs form would drop off a cliff .

Great to see he's as frustrated as the fans are as we kind of bottled leads in the last few games if we beat Hull Ipswich and then that frustrating nil nil at home to Blackburn we'd be right up there fine margins. Hopefully this season has been a learning curve for him and we are challenging for the automatics next season like we should be
