Are cyclists allowed to ride side by side these days? Seen that a couple of times recently, is that legit?

Yes. And yes. It's not new and is considered a safer way of riding especially on narrow roads as the two abreast make a larger "object" to pass so cars cannot just zip past

I'm a casual cyclist, but those chods who ride two or three a breast on busy roads are pure morons and give the rest of us a bad name.....no real need for it on quiet roads either imo.... If I'm a passenger in a car i'lll take photos of the said morons and shame you.

You're wasting your time taking photos unless you want to gaze at men in lycra? It's completely legal and is in the highway code, Rule 66 if memory serves me correctly.

I know it annoys drivers, but I really don't understand why.

Now, at this point I'm on the other side of quite a narrow road and driving under 30mph.
I'm a bit confused and need advice.
Is this a driving offence?
Am I crazy to think this isn't a driving offence?

To be honest I’d say your fat too close… look how close your wing mirror (the point of ref for the police) is to the cyclist

Also, speaking from experience as a cyclist, when the road bends to the left as it is about to in the photo, cars tend to not follow the curvature of the road and end up getting closer to the kerb/cyclist.

last time I did it I got done for 26 mph in a 20mph zone having just been overtaken by a cyclist.

I am a cyclist and I would be fine if this was the norm as mentioned by many already on every ride you get cars within inches of you, and bloody farmers pulling trailers are the worst of the lot not sure if they forget about the trailer on the back of the jeep swinging in

I'm also a cyclist and would not think of reporting this to the police or consider it as danger, so I'm puzzled why they do.

It’s far quicker to pass 2/3 riding side by side than 3 individual bikes
