Mowbray likely to be leaving Blackburn

I'd love to see him back managing us. There, I said it. Done a very good job at Blackburn, football's a funny old game and despite his last spell here which was pretty poor I could see him doing well for us if given time. This will never happen obviously but it's interesting to think what might have been (or could be) for a local legend like Mogga being in charge of us for years and doing well. Fairytale stuff really. *removes sentimental hat and gets back to work

Has he over achieved there? It seems like it from the outside looking in.

I love Mogga but he is a very humble man and this can mistakenly come across as dour, which often turns some fans off him.

Looking back it was a small miracle that he did so well with such limited resources here.

Deserves much more than he's being given going off that interview for what he's done for that club. Hardly surprising though given the record of the owners.

Sounds like he wants to come back 'home', but where is home these days for Mowbray?

I've nothing but the hugest respect for Tony Mowbray as a manager, and even moreso as a man. One of the Teesside footballing people we can be really, really proud of.

The end was like a slow death when he was here though we did have some decent times under him with very, very limited resources and overall he did very well with what he had. There is a strong argument that he played a big part in getting the foundations in place for the Karanka team that got promoted.

He will walk into a champo or league 1 job. I'm sure plenty of clubs will be on the look out.

I'm not sure what Blackburn expect? They spend nothing. He's had less backing than Warnock / Wilder.

I'd put them in the Millwall type 'punching' bracket. That said a decent CF probably helped. They did also lose Armstrong in the summer.

Breaks my heart watching that interview.

Mogga will always epitomise the Spirit of '86 and is a genuine Boro legend in my eyes. I was devastated that his time as manager ended as it did, tarnishing his reputation with some of our more ill-informed fans, and I've never really forgiven the club for not really marking his return to the Riverside in his first visit as Blackburn manager.

I know that Blackburn's owners "are what they are" (see what I did there?), but it does seem a shoddy way to treat any employee, let alone one of your most senior ones and the longest serving manager in the Championship. I suppose they must be worried that the club with the 9th lowest wage bill and 9th lowest total revenue (but 9th highest directors' remuneration) in the league might only finish 8th this season.

Good for you?

It's been fairly common knowledge he was leaving at the end of the season for a long time, he was close to getting sacked at the end of last season before a late resurgence, this is just him all but confirming what most expected.
Fine

Imagine if they sign big Sam in , it was the worst thing they did sacking him . All these years wasted out side the prem for sacking a manager who out performed his resources

We’d probably think the same if he was here .
I don’t like saying stuff like this but we are bigger than Blackburn at the moment. We should be pushing for the playoffs with the money we spend, the attendances we get etc. They’ve been crap for quite a while now and he’s brought them back, they’re punching above their weight this season.

If we were 3rd with Mowbray and our fans were whinging like theirs are then that would be comparable.

Could be a few managerial changes in the champo for next season. I read Hodgson was leaving Watford, I think Warburton is out of contract at QPR. It seems Mogga and Warburton are paying the price for not keeping their teams in the play-off places after excellent starts to the season. Genuinely surprised they fell away, whilst the likes of Luton and Huddersfield have kept up their challenge and likely to make it. I compare us to Forest - they have kept up their flying form whilst ours dipped after the FA cup run.
