Paddy McNair goodbye message.

I wish him well.
We have a good team at the moment so it’s perhaps not surprising that it’s difficult to push your way into the starting eleven.
Maybe drop down a level to guarantee a first team place, I was thinking a return to Sunderland?

A very good signing. We've more than had our moneys worth out of him. One of few positives in that awful 'pay anything' time.

I've never really understood some of the negativity towards him. He's always given 100% and often playing out of position. Just a proper pro who anyone would want.

I can see him signing for one of the relegated clubs. They will probably match his wage demands. I'd like to see him get a move to the prem. One of the promoted teams.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Wilder go for him at Sheff UTD.

I wish him well wherever he goes 👌

Nothing but good wishes for Paddy. Hope he goes on to have a successful career. Compared to paying £3.5M for Hoppe, McNair was a bargain. Big chunk off our wage bill too.

Very best of luck to Paddy, a great servant and a good player. Somebody is getting a cracking free agent this summer. All the best!

I definitely think we can file this as the right move for both parties,we couldn't justify 25k per week for a 5th choice centre back, good luck to Paddy, wish him well.

One of those players you don’t notice until you need him for club and country
Hope he gets a good contract at his next club

Good luck to him

Good player at this level, but I wouldn't have him in our first choice 11. I'm sure he can earn more than we'd pay him as a squad man, so best to shake hand and part ways.

He’s only 29, you’d think he has at least 3 good seasons left in him - I’m kind of hoping he doesn’t sign for a promotion rival such as Sheffield Utd

Shame to see him leave. He has generally performed well under Carrick.

If we didn't have so many good options at CB I'd have said definitely keep him but with him being on high wages we have to accept it's probably for the best.

Decent player for us over the years but suffers from that reputation as a jack of all trades, master of none. He's versatile, but never really good enough to make one position his own for the whole season.

He should find a club, but like Ayala when he left I'm not sure he'll get exactly the sort of club and wages he'd ideally be looking for.

Still, I really wish him well, as he's been steady away for us and never complained, just got on with it no matter where he's been asked to play.

Not sure who in the current squad replaces his natural ability to win a free kick in injury time with a slow motion dive when the pressure is on, no one does this quite like Paddy!

Good luck to Paddy,
loved it when we are hanging on, Paddy comes along to gain a free kick by diving/sliding with the ball haha
