Paddy McNair

Good servant to the club and doesn’t deserve this thread. Predictable though as he was the only change today. We’re out the cup to a much better team, who cares
Good servant, I agree, but he’s been crap for a long time and plays like he doesn’t care any more. As I say if we can, get rid

That's just a knee jerk reaction Diego, McNair is a very good player, one injury and we are going to need him 👍
Nah I don’t think we do. Hopefully Clarke back soon and Dijksteel and we manage to sign another. I just don’t rate him in this current team and thought he was poor under Wilder which he should of been ideal for

I'd be happy to see McNair moved on also. I'm not going to say he doesn't care, but I don't think he fits so well in any position for us now. Those first few months under Wilder playing as a CB in a 3, getting forward to help the midfield, he was great. That's been his best time at the club.

Definitely don't think he's quick enough (movement or anticipating the game around him) to play midfield. Not strong enough as a CB in a 2.

He was excellent (and always in the team) when we were good under Wilder.

When we were shyte under Wilder he was but so were most of the team.

Thing with McNair he’s shown enough in the past for someone to buy him, if we could get close to our money back and reinvest I think he does go.

I can take someone being rusty… it’s the attitude I can’t stand.

The later part of last season he looked like he was playing with his boots covered in grease… his touch was appalling.

You can call it a bad run if form but his body language was that he couldn’t even be bothered to chase his man or the ball.

He has been rightfully dropped this Season and we have been better without him.

Today was his opportunity to come out with a bit of fight and show he was back to his usual self… he did the total opposite and showed why he should never play for us again.

He looked lost for most of the game

I think McNair is only truly effective playing as a centre halve in a back 3. Can't see where he will fit into Carrick's system.
I agree, we really missed Lenihan today, hope this injury isn’t long term or Clarke is close to being fit as that defence won’t cut it. We have relied on scoring more than the opposition rather than being solid under Carrick, today we were punished by a much better side. Thought our major mistake was trying to play too much football, much more effective first half when we went long for a bit, but tbf second half we couldn’t get the ball!

What did McNair do wrong today? What goal was he at fault for? If Lenihan had played, would we have won? Answers are Nothing, none and no!

The answers are just like you said… but that doesn’t mean he had a good game and as said above, it’s been broken for a long time

Couldn’t agree more.

Doesn’t have any bark or bite about him, no leadership, his positioning is awful and turns like a cement mixer.

He had a few good spells under Warnock but has been very average to poor for a while. Knew as soon as he was in the team today that the defence would be all over the place.

He’s not a centre back, certainly can’t play in a two, really hope we aren’t stuck with him if Lenihan is injured.

Hes a good lad and given us four years.
He may want to freshen yp and take on a new challenge elsewhere?
Good luck to Paddy whatever happens

It’s irrelevant what he wants, more importantly we as a football club should be looking to move him on. Time after time this season he’s shown he’s no where near good enough. Shambolic today and I mean really bad
