Pet Shop Boys

I think they'll go down as one of the UK's great bands personally

History will be kind to them
I think that’s already happened 😁

Who is the most successful UK music duo?

Listed in The Guinness Book of Records as the most successful duo in UK music history, Tennant and Lowe have racked up a staggering 44 UK top-40 hits, including iconic and era-defining songs such as West End Girls, It's a Sin, What Have I Done to Deserve This?, Left to My Own Devices and Go West.

Seen them 3 times and absolutely love them.
They leave me feeling uplifted after one of their concerts.
My favourite is their version of Always on my mind.

Back home. Enjoyed it 👍It is a Greatest Hits tour so at least I knew the songs which kept me in my comfort zone.

Good show, lighting was good and the songs were more discoesque than I remembered, which is a good thing.

I've always been more of an individual song person rather than full albums or specific bands, but live is definitely better.

Despite the subdued clothes there were still loads of Pet Shopsessives there 🙂

A christmas number if memory serves, although not sure which one

Or was that west end girls? - this was when I first started courting my now wife

About to see them live in an hour or so but I don't really like them to be honest.
The things you do eh?
Im with you, can’t get away with them or any other band with an electronic sound. I don’t mind the odd song if it comes on the radio or in a bar etc but would never choose to listen to them.

Fabulous band , hope you enjoyed them
Yes thanks. Wouldn't say I'm suddenly their biggest fan but I did enjoy the show.

Bonus Question for any Pet Shopsessives out there - where did the name Domino Dancing come from?
(Apologies if it is common knowledge but it was a new one to me)

Some thoughtful lyrics in their songs, quite new ground breaking when many of their songs came out. Quite catchy tunes too - Go West often sung in the terraces to different words.

I also think they started a bit of revival in ABBA around 1993 that has continued.
Wasn’t the ABBA revival more Erasure? Please was one of my favourite albums as a teenager, so have always had a soft spot for them. Loved their remix albums too back in the day.

Never actually been confirmed but the “friend” who beat them at domino’s every night in the speech was a guy called Pete Andreas who was Chris’s partner and died of an AIDS related illness in the mid 90s.

Bonus points to you 👍
Neil told the story on Wed night and when he said the friend's name I thought he said Peter Andrè, which confused me.
Whenever he beat them at dominoes he did a little victory dance - domino dancing.
While they were all on holiday in St Lucia I think he said.
Sad to hear about his death.

Didn’t Always on My Mind keep Fairytale of New York off the number one spot one Christmas?

Yes it did

Bit of useless trivia… the song was recorded for a Elvis TV special with artists singing Elvis back catalogue songs…

The pet shop boys had no intention of releasing it as a single but bowed down to public demand.

The video for the song is also good and stared Gary Linker, Graham Taylor and many other famous people

Going to see PSB tonight in Leeds, cannot wait! I've always liked them and wanted to see them, but their set at Glastonbury last year had me searching for tickets! They were outstanding!

Always on my mind is my favourite, im glad they bowed down to public demand.
