Police convoy in BIllingham

Just seen a weird Police convoy blast down By-Pass Road in Billingham on full blues and twos

2 x cop bikes
2 x marked 3 series BMW's
2 x marked X5 BMW's
1 unmarked White Iveco van with blacked out windows
2 x marked X5 BMW's
1 Grey unmarked X5 BMW.


Someone important in the Van? or just a very naughty boy on his way to Holme House Prison?
 
Was in the Gazette the other day about armed police standing guard at Teesside courts - wouldn't/couldn't say who was on trial but I think they said Police were not from Teesside.

Not sure a very naughty boy needing that level of escprt would be going to Holme House! Sounds like someone or something inportant though. Maybe a load of Covid Vaccine?
 
On way to court from Durham probably must be a high profile court case going on, must be worried whoever it is may get sprung hence the armed police.

Think it said they were from Durham, and that certainly tallies with what the OP described.

Wonder who it is, probably gangland related if they think there's a chance of escape hence the manpower involved?
 
When you say By-Pass road do you mean the old A19? We live only about 100 yards from there and didn't hear anything.

yup, they all had lights on, and put sirens on as they approached the roundabout, a cop bike had stopped the traffic on the roundabout and the convoy blasted straight through onto the A19 slip road headed south.
 
Odd, wonder why, if they were coming from points north, they chose to come through Billingham. Only thing I can think of would be to avoid any chance of getting stuck in the road works.

If a life watching pi$$ poor Hollywood action movies has taught me anything, its that a heist or a prisoner break always happens in some fake road works. Maybe the baddies have been playing the long game and started the A19 roadworks a year ago as a diversion tactic.
