Rayner-gate

It's all the Tories have got. They know there is no way they can even begin to defend the behaviour of (most? A large chunk at least) of their ministers and MPs over their term in office. Their one and only play is to get the idea into as many heads as they can that 'they're all the same'.
 
She has left herself open to these articles and attacks.
It's easy saying its the only way the tory party know.
If this had been Hunt or a senior tory we would be scathing. The boot would be getting well and truly stuck in and blood called for.
She's done the decent thing saying she would resign if it's prove she has done something criminal.
Let's not act like a bunch of hypocrites( or tories)..
 
IMO the only hypocrites here are the Tory MPs and their paid hacks churning out the ridiculous level of column inches over this. I certainly wouldn't be calling for blood from anyone over £1500, Tory or not, in fact if probably consider them one of the better ones.

People in glass houses and all that. I wonder how many of them with more than one house that have made all the right choices when it comes to their electoral paperwork, maybe now we will find out.

If she's guilty and falls on her sword then good on her.

Nope. I think she would be correct to resign if she's found guilty and respect her for the right decision. I just find that considering the relative levels of corruption the Tory MPs and their paid hacks are the hypocrites here. It's pretty simple.

People in glass houses. When it's one of them, it's rally round, give all the excuses, close ranks and try to protect as much as possible until they have no options. When it's even the slightest transgression by labour, it's faux outrange, fake demonstrations and completely disproportionate media coverage. It's plain, transparent and hypocritical.

Let's wait on the outcome shall we and see if there's been a crime. If there has and she resigns then that's the end of it IMO. If she hasn't... Well that's different....and whether this ends up backfiring and opening a can of worms for the accusers, again will see.

If she has lied - she will be toast, and rightly so.

Lied about what - the capital gains thing or the electoral thing? Have to be very, very careful which media source you read...... certainly a mental RW media witch hunt going on.

Stench of hypocrisy is overpowering sadly.

If Rayner/Labour were not 100% she would be cleared (ie took legal advice before making the statement) doubt she would be so bold.

But let's see. If found guilty let's hope a massive hornets nest is poked.....👍

“The Mail” = Conservative Central Office Propaganda Pamphlet. I’ll take that aides comments with a massive pinch of salt.

The Mail will have contacted dozens of people, no matter how remote their relationship to Rayner, hoping that some of them have a grudge or can be bought. They will have asked them leading and loaded questions then twisted and edited their response to get the quote they want.
