Riley McGree [Mail / Sun]

Looking at these highlights, maybe McGree could take Tav’s place if he does go in the transfer window? He is better at taking corners for starters? P.S. Thanks to the Celtic supporter for putting it on!

Imagine making that before they had agreed signing him 🤦‍♂️

Anyway, very, very left footed like Tav. Seems to dribble a bit more though, possibly needs to learn to release the ball a bit earlier. Likes a shot, likes a pirouette turn and a chop. His decent shots and crosses in the video look dangerous, but then they don't put the mishit ones in, so who knows if he's consistent with it.

Seems moderately aggressive, does that Gazza thing when under pressure of having his arms and elbows high to protect himself. Seems to have good balance and strength, and pace, and at championship level that's a real bonus in midfield.

Who the hell is bank rolling this? I mean we had losses of 35mil and that was last year. God knows what this year's accounts will say. I'm guessing similar or worse. I'd be suprised if we don't need to start getting money in.
probably, remember we have got rid of the following wages Akpom, Archer, Assombalonga, Betinelli, Bolasie (half a season), Coulson, Fletcher, Howson (reduced wages), Johnson, Kebano (half a season), Mendes-Laing (half a season), Morsy, Pears, Roberts, Saville, Spence, Wing. Of those Akpom, Britt, Fletcher, Kebano, Saville is probably 7mill saved in wages. We probably spent 5mill last year on Morsy and Akpom, so we are a few million above that. I think there is a sale about to happen

If its genuinely 5mil (I'm guessing in various instalments) then you'd think Tav or someone most be moving on.

I mean you'd have to say it really doesn't look good for Payero. Who probably cost similier (again in various instalments).

We arguably have what I'd call 4 sellable assets in Tav/Spence/Fry and McNair. I guess any Spence money won't happen until the summer. So you'd probably think Tav if we are even contemplating 5mil on a CM. Although need a longterm replacement for Howson.
It’s still early days for Payero. I don’t think he was ever expected to hit the ground running, and we probably won’t see the best of him until next season.

Never like us selling players obviously but sometimes needs must. For me, Tav hasn’t been quite good enough for a while now. Too many games when I look back and can’t remember anything he did. I would rather keep Payero if we could get decent money for Tav. Think Payero could be a really good player and Tav has probably reached his potential.

I think Tav will kick on again, but his confidence has taken a knock and maybe it's easier to kick on with a fresh start somewhere else, I still think there is a prem player in there and wouldn't be averse to keeping, but we have to be pragmatic and if we selling him allows us to sign McGree, Lundstrum and a defender then so be it.

I hope not. I like him and if we replace him with somebody like Lundstram Id be gutted

Tav is a player, just need to unlock that ability on a consistent basis.
I would be sorry to see him leave

Possibly true. I liked Tav for a long time and always thought he would be a great player. But too many games where he plays the full 90 with no goals or assists. Always seems to be a nearly player in games.

The Belgian league is poor, the Portuguese is marginally better, then the Dutch is the best of those......all those leagues are better than the Scottish prem. The top 6 or 7 teams would probably win the Scottish prem if they were in it.
Do you have a Martometer that perfectly assesses and grades everything?
Surprised it is not better known.

Is it possible we have already agreed the sale of Spence to Forest, with Forest having agreed to sell that young right winger if they don't get promoted? We know there was a new financial loan agreement with Forest a couple of weeks ago to ensure hestayed for the next 6 months. It may be we have 8mill incoming for him on 1st July which will then offset some of this spending?

Tav is a strange one he splits opinions on here. Brilliant player will come good in the near future. or he has had loads of opportunity to improve and appears to be going backwards.
IMHO he is in the latter category. He is stagnating and shows little or know improvement week on week. I would take any decent bid for him and move on.
