This lad is gonna have a lot of assists for us once we get the striker situation sorted. Hopefully Forss starts next game and we get a couple in next week.

Watmore was very poor today and by far our worst player, he’s got to score that in the first half. Can’t miss those but aside from that his overall play was poor and their goal resulted from him running down a blind alley and giving ball away.

I think it was a combination of things, McGree wasn’t covering no where as near as much as Tav does in that position, as I suspected Tav was a huge miss. Bola was left alone at times but he struggled to cope with it too and resulted in Lenihan getting dragged over and left gaping holes. We need a left sided centre back and also a starter in Left centre mid for me. McGree is an impact player in my
opinion. Giles will be fine when we get the right players around him.

Was excellent in the main today.

Your McGree comment is spot on, he is not the replacement for Tav, we need better.
 
I’d agree with McGree. Don’t see him as a stater for a team looking at promotion.
 
Can’t see Akpom starting the next game , Giles and Jones didn’t really do much on the wing today but once it’s early days but Jones certainly seemed to start the season how he ended the last . I was surprised that we seemed to want to waste time in the first half passing the ball across our own centre backs . We didn’t seem to want the 3 pts today . Watmore certainly didn’t play like some one wanting to be off and I’m still waiting for mcgree to show he worthy of starting a game tbh
 
We have Fry and McNair and/or another left CB to come in as well as (hopefully) two proper forwards. So not too despondent.

First half we were excellent, first 15 mins of second half awful, then final half hour pretty even. We were the better team over the 90 mins against a team who will definitely be in the mix.

Giles was very impressive - going to create a load of chances. Just need the elusive gadge up front who can stick the ball in the net more often than not.

Solid start, plenty to work on, but very encouraging.

Giles didn’t do much? He was quality.

Literally no idea how you have come to that conclusion. First half his nice play put Akpom in for the assist. Then he put the ball of the game in for Watmore to miss a sitter. Early stages of second half he was quiet and then last 20 mins we got him in game again and he fired great balls in box again
 
Giles great going forward but very poor defensively. Him and Jones will be a mirror image of each other. Crooks and Howson solid and reliable as ever.

McGree was his usual self. Poor. I’ve read and listened to some strange analysis of his and the expectations placed on him by some people has been bizarre. I’d agree that he isn’t starter for a side chasing promotion.

The performance was pretty much the same as last season. I don’t think we played any better or worse without Tav.

Agree with some of that but we definetly missed Tav. Can’t dwell too much though, he’s as good as gone. Need to replace him now.

Akpom & Watmore - I thought they started well but faded & it was right to sub them, but I had no confidence the guys coming off the bench would change things.
Unless we get more players in I can't see that the subs did enough to earn a start.
