Ryan Giles

Seriously?

He’s a creative, pacy, modern full back just like the game needs at the highest level. Yes he has areas to work on, but I’d rather have a player who can learn about tactics and awareness rather than someone who needs to learn about ball control and passing.
He’s a good championship player, he wouldn’t cut it in the premier league

I am putting this all down to pre playoff nerves. First of all we are getting people in a tizz about the Mackems, then somebody losing it over a cartoon and now people getting into a lather about a couple of our loan players social media posts.

I remember David Hodgson in the middle of the Holgate against WBA in the FAC in 1981 - he was injured and couldn't walk properly. A bit like fans do with Yusuf recently some shouted out for Hodgy to start a song and he did. WBA were a very good team at the time, had Bryan Robson and Cyril Regis. We beat them 1-0.

Hodgy scored in the infamous 6th round reply at Wolves that year. He scored in front of a bank of 10,000 Boro fans

Strange lol

He's a wolves player who's been with them for years. I'd be more annoyed if he wasn't bothered how they did. He's not a Boro player.

It's like a Bristol Rovers fan spotting Coburn at a Boro match and having a pop 😂

Don't over think things. I doubt it makes him any less 'interested' when he plays for us.

yes seriously,he is a poor defender, take away his crossing and you have a very average defender,

Hard to please you lad. He’s been outstanding all season long, he has his flaws but make no mistake he’s played a massive part of how well we have done and that left foot is something very special. Would be a brilliant permanent signing and thankfully most fans can see that

Giles is an integral piece of the Boro Jigsaw, take that one piece away, suddenly Akpom is rushing in to the area and sliding in to nothing, looking a complete barmpot rather than a £20M goal machine. He isn’t right good at defending, so what, we are playing Carrickball not Pulisball.
I’d sign Giles tomorrow if i were Gibson and I could. He is a strikers dream and a right backs nightmare whipping in crosses for fun. He is only 23, time to develop, and playing in the most attack minded team we have witnessed for a long time, arguably if ever, in my lifetime that is, and some people moan because he isn’t Ron Chopper Harris 🤦🏻 🤣

Tbf to Giles his defending has improved a lot - when Carrick first stuck him at LB I was one of his critics, thought Bola LB and Giles LM was the way to go. Shows what I know 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

It is impossible to deny that Ryan Giles has played a significant part in our success under Carrick.
I don't see what possible benefit there is in criticising him about anything, especially given he will play in the rest of our matches this season.
Without our loan players I don't think we would be in the play offs, they have all played their part.

not saying hes a bad player,,im just saying his assists are about as good as you will get,but im not so sure hes good at defending and as a defender thats a must

He’s not that’s probably clear, but he has improved over the piece. It’s a lot easier to be coached how to defend in a shape and to get tighter to wingers to stop them crosses and to tell Giles to clear his lines rather rather than take a touch, these things are things that can be worked on and he will improve on. What you can’t coach is a wand of a left foot with possible the best cross I have seen at the Boro which is a natural talent that he has, it’s literally a weapon.

He can get better and I would love that to happen here permanently at the Boro.

Another thing about Giles defending - if he was that bad why do opposing teams attack Smith down our RH side more? Smith always seems the busier FB.
Sure if Giles was substantially the weak link, opposition managers would be targeting him more?

🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

dont quite get the love in for him tbh.hes a decent left back thats it,his assists masks his deficiencies in defence,as said hes ok,wont be bothered either way if we sign him or not

He’s not a left back for a start.

It’s more what he does in their half than ours.
