Sam Greenwood

Don't be too harsh. Whilst you can't deny his contribution in terms of his goals output, he's still a funny one to place in terms of what he brings to the team outside of his goals...that seems a daft thing to say in all honesty. He does seem to go missing for large swathes of games and i'd find it hard to describe him as a player. He's a little bit 'Gary O'neil' with an added goal threat.

Yea i do get what you're saying there to be fair. No doubt has a lot of quality though.

Still, on balance, if you held a gun to my head and asked me to choose between him and mcgree for that left hand side - i'd go mcgree.

Terrible shout. Nothing like Gary O’Neil.

Same. I feel like the team gets more out of McGree than Greenwood. That might change if he grows into the role.

If I called the grass green, you'd call it blue.
No, far from it. You were proven right on Fry, he’s been excellent this season alongside McNair. And they should be our first choices now keeping Lenihan on the bench when he’s back fit.

I really don’t see the Greenwood and O’Neil comparison though. Vastly different players. Greenwood is a work horse I agree but he has so much more to his game and does have that star quality can turn draws into wins and turns defeats into draws. O’Neil didn’t have that in his locker.

Some of our fans are genuinely unbelievable.
A 21 year old who'd played less than 30 games in his whole career, comes into a team that had made its worst start in about 100 years, more than holds his own, scores 4 goals in 7 starts, including one of the best goals ever seen at the Riverside against one of the best teams to ever play in the Championship. Very obviously a vital part of our frankly miraculous tournaround...
"I don't know what he brings to the team"
Or that chump on another thread "I've yet to seem him do ANYTHING good".
Jesus wept.

One played over 200 Premier League games and made hundreds of league appearances and the other has barely played 50 league games. They both cover lots of ground albeit in slightly different roles and they move the ball without being overly threatening or incisive in possession. Greenwood has that goal threat which sets him apart, which i mentioned but it's a bit early to say he has star quality in my view. I don't think the comparison was terrible given the caveats I made.

Or you could take the comments completely out of context and spin this view...

This thread is from before any of those goals or the turnaround.

Still not having the comparison. Just completely different players.
