'Sammy Ameobi to Middlesbrough is all-but done'

He is a consistent performer, a quality championship player who gives us options. I’m a big fan and wanted us to sign him for the past few seasons. MASSIVE upgrade on Mendez-Laing
 
Not the most exciting signing ever, but a good addition to the squad and attacking player with some technical ability something we are massively lacking.
 
Baffling signing at this stage of the window and if this is the direction our recruitment is taking then it doesn't fill me with any confidence, he's primarily a winger who doesn't provide many assists and doesn't score many goals, he's 29 so it's unlikely he's suddenly going to improve into a more complete player, fair enough if we were in the last week of the window when all other avenues have been explored and we need bodies in but seems like a desperation signing at a time when we should be looking at players with more obvious quality, replacing Johnson with Ameobi does not improve our first team nor our squad in my opinion.
 
I thought he did well during his first loan and scored a brilliant goal IIRC; a little surprised at this, because NW has always favoured fast, direct forward player and Ameobi is probably the opposite of that.

But he's got some talent, so let's give him a chance.
 
Newy even his fans at Forest claim he is very inconsistent. Differing viewpoints on him with some wishing he was staying - others claiming he wasn’t ideal for a club with ambitions . Difficult one to call and will no doubt split opinion on here.

Replacing Mendez-Laing with Ameobi improves our first team and our squad. More consistent than Spence and Coulson too.
 
I did say it was done guys before anyone claimed it. Sammy Ameobi not a signing I wanted and few fans are not happy over this.

Actually don’t mind him as a player on his day but it’s the consistency that is the worry. As a squad option it’s not a bad signing in my opinion but if he’s a first team we regularly then will be a average season. Let’s see what he can do 👍
