Season Cards/tickets back on sale

Well that's better than most, isn't it? And I'd bet anyone paying more has the luxury of parachute payments.

We've got to compete with that without parachute payments.
By ripping off our own fans? 22 clubs have cheaper prices than us plus I’d imagine a few premier league sides too

We had parachute payments a few years ago yet still charged huge prices

I go with my two lads 9 and 11 and my Mrs, she has bought her first ever season ticket (early bird after the cup run friend and family deal - but thats another argument for another thread) after catching the bug. Works out about £56 a match for 4 of us, would be a bit cheaper but couldn't bring myself to sit with a load of kids in the east stand, for a full afternoons entertainment that is reasonable value.

Couldn’t agree more as value for money. However what this highlights is the inconsistency of the pricing policy. How much would it cost a family to attend one game? And through the inconsistency of pricing is where the club falls flat on its face I’m afraid

I do agree, but sadly the ticketing policy can't please everyone, and boro as a club are never going to attract a large numbers of part time fans.

Yes, we might have a few thousand casual fans who MAY attend if the prices were more accessible, and I do have empathy for anyone who can't attend a football match due to the prohibitive cost, but I understand boro focusing their pricing strategy on those 15-20k fans who will probably renew year in year out no matter what, because frankly, no-one wants to be traipsing round IKEA every other frigging Saturday!

This is why I always buy early bird. Not a hells chance I would pay these prices as a newcomer. Can't see them selling many more

£150 reduction off 16000 season tickets would reduce the transfer budget by 2.4 million. A bit less than the 2.75 million they blew on Chubby Akpom. Never mind the 25 million blown on Fletcher and Assombalonga

You have mis understood my use of the word Adult. Partly my fault.

I was thinking about the legal definition of adult so 18-21 is adult, 22-64 is adult, and over 64s are all adults - the highest priced category is the 22-64 year olds. Most of the Riverside is in the £450 category for this group (early bird renewal) - North Stand, South Stand, NW corner, SW Corner.

Our prices for 18-21 and over 64s are about 33 % off the 22-64 Adult category. Disabled adults are allowed a carer free of charge. An adult effectively gets to bring a child for free if they sit in the family section. Not sure other Championship clubs are as generous.

Also our £450 includes 23 free drinks for about half of our STs which could bring it down to £350 depending on the drink.

I tend to analyse our prices against other live entertainment opposed to other clubs as someone might say consider going to see a tribute band or go to a Boro game opposed to say should I get a season ticket for Boro or Sunderland. A 65 year old pays about £24 to see a tribute band at my local theatre, but £388/23 = £16.87 to see the Boro. For a 22-64 its £24.64. E/B renewal it about 25% less. 18-64 years old pay £25 for a tribute band ticket. Some people look at Cinema tickets, but I don't think that is fair as its not live entertainment.

Some Championship clubs are selling their product too cheap e.g. QPR @ £235 for mid aged adult. If the charged £335 would they really sell a lot less?

I have also analysed the cost through time and compared with inflation. Our prices have risen a bit more than general price inflation, but way below footballer wage inflation.

Virtually very other club sells tickets cheaper for younger and over 65 fans too and has a family zone where kids can go with an adult for cheap.

We'd be far more expensive on that list as well.

Because I'm a sad act and have nothing better to do this morning, here's the cheapest adult concession prices for early renewal at each club, excluding family stands as you need to take a child with you there:

Birmingham - Senior/19-24s = £215
Blackburn - Senior = £269, 18/21 = £179
Blackpool - Senior/18-21 = £269
Bristol City - Senior/U25 = £303, U22 = £160, U19 = £99
Burnley - Senior = £219, U22 = £95
Cardiff - Senior = £209, 16-21 = £99
Coventry - Over 60/U21/Student = £276
Huddersfield - U23 = £159 (No Senior prices, but adults could pay £299).
Hull - Senior = £198, 16-22 = £150
Luton - Over 65/U22 = £310, Over 75/U19 = £225
Middlesbrough - Senior = £310, 18-21 = £256
Millwall - Over 63/Armed Forces/18-21 = £242
Norwich - Over 75 = £327, Over 65 = £362, Under 21 = £236
QPR - Over 61/U23 = £145
Reading - Senior = £215, 18-24 = £130
Rotherham - Over 60/18-21/Armed Forces = £240
Sheffield United - Over 60 = £290, 18-21/Student = £215
Stoke - Senior/U21 = £259
Sunderland - Senior = £235, U22 = £145
Swansea - Senior/Student = £202
West Brom - Senior = £269, 20-25 = £199, 17-19 = £99
Watford - Senior = £171, Student = £121
Wigan - Senior = £279, 18-21 = £209

Senior = Over 65
Student = adult at University.

So, at concession adult prices in the cheapest area, we have the 2nd most expensive senior tickets and 3rd most expensive young adult tickets.

Norwich are more expensive on seniors but offer a cheaper young adult option.

Coventry are more expensive on young adults, but offer a cheaper senior option.
Swansea don't offer a deal for young adults, but do provide a cheaper offer for students and seniors.

We're not doing well on concession prices either.

You can debate about pounds off here and pounds off there all day long, but the bottom line is that we're expensive.

I know I'm probably an outlier living in London but I've not attended as a 'normal' home match ticket buyer in about 5 years; I used to go to every one and even when I moved down here I was still getting to about half the matches (most Saturday games); but it is expensive and I've found other things to spend that money on now.

I used to be bothered but there's loads of things that they could do, but they don't seem too concerned so let them just crack on with it and I'll enjoy the away matches.

Too pricey for me, with 2 kids unfortunately so i'll stick to a couple home games here and there, cup game, odd away game but i'll mostly be found at Marske on a Saturday it's just ridiculous now

I think the prices are high BUT ticket price revenue is absolutely make or break at Championship level. TV money is very low compared to Premier as with commercial.
I hope we change the model, even if gradually, reducing pricing behind the goals etc. But ticket revenue is essential at our level. Shirt sales are also very important.
It’s indefensible Rob, I get revenue is essential but other clubs seem to manage to sign players and compete without ripping off their fanbase.

Let’s not forget they put prices up when we got promoted and we didn’t need the money, so it’s not just because they need it to compete.

The club have wasted relatively big sums of money on the likes of Gestede and Akpom in recent seasons (who any fan with an ounce of footballing knowledge could have told the club were terrible signings) so it’s not like they spend that money they’ve ripped off fans wisely.

The stadium is never close to being full on a league matchday, so the model isn’t working in that sense. I know plenty of fans who would love to go but simply balk when they see the price, and I don’t blame them.

We have one of the most expensive ticket prices in the league, in an area with the lowest median income in the country.

As for shirt sales, if they’re so important they should listen to fans. I hope fans boycott this season’s, the collar design is awful and the betting sponsor is absolutely hideous both morally and aesthetically.

It demonstrates perfectly the total contempt they have for their fans / customers that they expect us to pay £50 to be a betting company billboard.
