Sending Off Incident

In his post match interview MC felt that a Plymouth player should have been sent off.

What happened and is there a clip of the incident anywhere. TIA.

Jones was clean through and got wiped out right on the edge of the box, ref bottled it he wasn’t even going to give the foul until the linesman told him. Then yellow carded the defender.

My thoughts at the time was why didn’t the lineman flag? I mean it was on his side of the field and he had a clear view but he did nowt. It was touch and go on the pen but we remember all too well last season when Fry was sent off for a similar incident with Dross Stewart.

For me it was a pen and a red both officials decided not to up hold the letter of the law on the last man for whatever reason.

I know MC probably thought like many of us that it was maybe a yellow but the actual take down happened inside the box.

The linesman did call it, the ref originally pointed for a corner.

Carrick thought it was outside of the box but a red card.

I thought it was inside the box, definitely have to see it again.
A friend I met last night said that the ref thought Jones was going away from goal that's why he didn't give a red, don't know how true that is or where he got it from , but if it's true that so wrong and laughable, Issaih was like a rat up a drainpipe at that point there was only one direction he was going.

There was a similar incident in the Norwich Blackburn game earlier and the Blackburn player was rightly sent off.

I think Carrick said he was told it was because Jones was running towards the byline apparently and not on goal… load of crap.

I didn’t see the linesman flag — I’ll have to review the match again as the highlights haven’t (so far) showed the incident.
I dont know if he flagged I wasn’t looking but the ref originally pointed for a corner then put his hand to his ear while talking to someone on the mic, he then changed his mind gave the freekick and yellow card.

Look at the Wednesday red card and then ask was Jones denied an obvious goal scoring opportunity?

In my opinion he wasn’t as he did seem to be heading away from goal, but that is just opinion.

The commentary said he pointed for a corner then changed his mind - but watching it I thought he gave a free kick straight away. I think the way he was facing made it look like he pointed for a corner, but he never made another signal just the straight arm pointed in the way we were playing.

I think he gave it, but bottled the red card

Is was more of a red than Frys at the SOL last season.

Ref said Izzy was running away from goal when he was fouled, which is clearly bull****.

Looked inside as they ran toward the camera angle but the one they were running away from showed it as outside but hardly mikes, it was a close call but probs should’ve been a red…

Well miles is stretching it but was at least a couple of yards. I did think it was a lot closer live.
