Just got their email today:

“We understand that things are tough right now, and so alongside investing in improvements, we’re committed to keeping our prices as low as we can. The costs of providing broadband services have however increased significantly, and it is affecting the entire industry.

As you might know, many other providers are raising their prices, and we’ll be making some changes from 1 April 2023.”

13.5% increase and most of it TV not broadband.

Can’t ditch it so stuck with the ripping-off f**kers.

I left in December after 17 years. That's 17 years of me paying for full package/Phone line and broadband.

It wasn't just the financial aspect. I simply wasn't using it.

The phone call was the usual hassle. I think from start to finish it was around 25 mins being passed to different departments who offered me all kinds of discounts. You have to be 'strong'. The moment you accept its another 18 months. Any offer will probably last 6 at best.

Swapping the broadband was seamless. I went with talk talk. They did it all after giving me an activation day. Just sent me a router and you plug it in. I've gone from £134 sky to £26 (fixed for 18 months). I've not missed it. Freeview is alright and still have YouTube / Amazon. It maybe 'immoral' yet watch football via other methods.

The one thing I will miss is being able to record shows. Are there any good alternatives for this on freeview? I’ve been so accustomed to just using sky I’m totally ignorant as to the alternatives.

Been with Sky over 20 years and they make a big thing of that 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️. Every renewal when they hike the prices up it's very hit and miss as to who you speak to, time of month, etc etc. Couple of times I've said I'm leaving, they've said okay, I've made an excuse, called back and got a deal I'm happy with. £60 month for full TV package is probably a tad expensive and I should really look at IPTV.

I left recently. All I did was send an email saying I wanted to cancel, this is my 30 days notice. They just processed it and sent me the odd sorry you're leaving, have sky signature for £21 type emails.

I think it's only worth ringing if you want to stay and are trying to haggle.

Not great. Getting the price rise emails from all over now.

One thing I will say for Sky is at least they seem to try to improve their service offer. Discounted Netflix, free Paramount Plus, free Discovery Plus etc.

I get nowtv sport each season for last few.. pretty much just for football if that goes up again I'll probably bin it & use a VPN.. & really, really resent paying for HD 1920.. that is a rip off.

I enjoy sky as there isn’t anything out there that rivals it for functionality & quality imo. Although the prices are constantly going up.

Yeah they are always hiking prices, robbing Tw**s, I left Sky 5 yrs ago, and got IPTV on my fire sticks with VPN ,I never looked back at £80,00 a year instead of £110 a month..

That's great advice for anyone thinking of leaving. I think the thought of a phone call puts folk off. It's not as simple as 'I want to leave' .

Unfortunately you can do everything through the app. Except leave. That would be the ideal solution.
