So whose likely to improve us in January ?

You obviously have:
1. Zero ambition
2. Zero imagination
3. Zero understanding of football finances.

I will agree with point 3, i dont play FM and im not a business owner!

But on the other 2 points I have to disagree!
1. My view is that if we were to go up then I would like to think we are in with a fighting chance of staying up, with the current squad I think we are a long way of being in a position where we could do that. Barring an almost complete rebuild of the team we would be the whipping boys and I dont want to see that again. It has nothing to do with ambition, the younger players that are starting to come good need more experience in this league before they come up against some of the best players in the world.
2. Only those with the wildest imagination could think that going up with what we have is going end well. I fail to see how having an imagination has any bearing on this debate.
Just for the record I imagined adding reggae reggae sauce to a bacon & cheddar cheese sandwich would be an improvement.........try it and tell me I dont have an imagination

Leicester, Wolves, Newcastle, Palace, Leeds, Burnley, Brighton, Fulham, West Brom, Sheffield.. all have had squads similar to ours going up. Burnley and Sheffield closer than most imo. Sheffield did well last year but failed to capitalise on their first season up. We’ve got to be in the mix, we’ve got to be looking at going up or risk disappearing completely.

I think we have a young core of players that are premier capable, these players will only get better after a promotion season. If we bring in two decent wingers this Jan then we would be five or six players away from a stable premier league side.

Free agents, quality relegated players, top championship players, loans and we’re there without a huge outlay. £100m is a huge amount of money that can be borrowed against. I would say that it’s not sustainable to be at the top end of the champo without promotion. The alternative being scrapping at the bottom of the league.. we might as well do that in the prem.

Do you think the club would be better or worse off over the next four years say with a £120 million capital injection plus parachute payment(s) if they are still a thing?

Or would be the club be better off after another ten months of no fans through the turnstiles and a chance to build a very slightly stronger squad for another crack at the champo with no income?

I can not believe that the chance of being relegated and making a few players sad (and making them millionaires more than likely) is more of a worry than getting £150 million or so in to the clubs coffers to keep us running for another five years.

Madness not to want promotion. The clubs needs it financially. I agree it would be pretty grim getting pumped every week but still better for the clubs longterm finances.

I really have little or no interest in the prem. Its a horrible place😕. I watch how the big 6 (used loosely) via and ask for everything and everyone else gets cast aside.

I much prefer an away day at Rotherham or Huddersfield than City or Liverpool. That said it's all about the money and 120mil plus parachute payments couldn't be sniffed at.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but I just can't see Bolasie working out. If we do manage to satisfy his and his agents financial requirements I've seen nothing from him in about two years to suggest he'd be an asset.

I assume Warnock knows him well enough to believe he can get a tune out of him though.

Yeh I have similar concerns regarding bolasie, I hope he is serious about getting his career back on track and is therefore willing to take a significant reduction in his wages. Don't like the thought of us spaffing a load of cash on him for it not to work out, think warnock has a bit more about him to allow that to happen though.

Plus I kind of think gtf after he blew us out for villa a couple of years ago, after he'd strung us along for so long.

He was actually here, at Rockliffe with his family and ready to sign. Villa called at the last minute and agreed to fund his whole weekly wage. Everton took that option obviously.

And I trust in Warnock to get a tune out of him.

I heard a different turn of events to be honest, one which wasn't everton being the deciding factor. He'd also been at rockcliff for long enough to sign a contract but didn't. I think you've got to ask yourself why?

Anyway by the by, that's just a bit of my bitterness and love for my club coming to the fore. The fact he's been awful for well over 3 years now and has had a couple of significant injuries, coupled with these loan moves for players over 30 very rarely working out these days, is why I have my reservations about a move for him. But NW has got a tune out of about 5 players this season I'd have quite happily seen leave over the summer so he knows plenty more than me.

I think getting some cover in centre half has got to be a priority, don't really rate Hall and he has a awful injury record and while wood is promising I'm not sure I want to be relying on a 18 year old as we hit the home straight of the season in play off contention.

McNair , Fry , Djiksteel , Saville and Morsy would improve Newcastles team , they are terrible ! Big Steve will be on the blower shortly .

Depending on Fletchers fitness I think we probably need a striker.. and maybe someone the manager likes to play down the right - I like Tav but prefer him in midfield.

NW said on his fans forum that he's interested in two players who are out of contract in the summer. He said is it worth wasting money on them now? Or get two players for nothing in the summer.

Bolasie on a perm? Alex Mowett who's been linked is also out of contract. I'm not sure who else he could be referring too.

Right winger and centre back cover, so Messi & Alaba?

Was laughing when I saw the thread on here recently discussing the possibility of bringing Jordan Rhodes back hahaha! Now there is one player we're sure to be going nowhere near .. all jokes aside I don't think another forward will be incoming unless we find another club for Britt ... we have Watmore doing so well (hope he keeps it up) and Fletcher due back, so who knows what'll go down .. I hope we can keep hold of Britt still, mind .. as disappointing as he's been. We still have a wafer-thin squad and must admit kind of agree with an earlier post, if we were to be miraculously promoted we'd have our work cut out surviving without spending a good wedge to get the extra quality in. Though if we were to go up, it would be unreal .. to go from just about dropping out of the league last season to being in the top 6 now as it stands, I think we're definitely credible candidates for a play-off position. I was content enough for a comfortable mid-table finish then building on from Summer but I really think we could be the surprise team this season.

I just checked the next three fixtures, Rotherham at home with Pulis's SW in between then Wycombe the other end as second away trip. I think we could win all those fixtures though we go one game at a time :p .. should we manage say 6 points the win at Birmingham will seem even bigger. I hope we win all three and manage to get rid of our usual Xmas slump, another 9 from 9 .. we could end up knocking on the autos ... aye ... I'm getting far too carried away now. Haha ... just enjoying feeling so good about the team at the moment and how the squad is responding to Warnock. I hope he gets in who he wants in January then I believe we've as good a chance as anyone.

If we sold Britt we'd be sure to take another loss on him .. yet another striker that seems to come out of the club worth less than before they came in :p ... Was a stupid price in the first place tbf. One of the most frustrating strikers I've seen here for some time and I'm looking forward to the return of Fletch.

I'd be happy with a couple of wide players, hopefully, Bolasie comes off as it seems Warnock is definitely still interested in getting that one over the line (God knows what made it go t1ts up last second in Summer). Then who knows who else is lined up .. depending on who else we can get in if anyone, I wonder what that means for Patrick Roberts. Hasn't worked out anywhere near as well as most expected it would in getting a full season here, more playing time .. I could see his loan being ended early if there's another club who can offer him more playing time and we get the extra bodies in that Warnock is after.

The progress of Dijksteel and Bola this year has been so brilliant to see too. Woodgate can take credit there if there's anything he deserved to be remembered for from his time in the hot seat. Dijksteel easily my favourite player at the moment. I know many of them have signed extended deals etc but I hope we can keep other teams from hovering around them, particularly come Summer ...

UTB ... Let's go for all them points over Xmas!

Regardless of who will strengthen the squad, can we all just agree now that we'll avoid mentioning newcastle and paddy mcnair in the same post yeh? It's an insult to his ability.

Eagle eyed fans have claimed Bolaise can be seen the background of one of the training photos the club posted yesterday.
