Agree with a lot of this, and I do think social media has probably ruined it (as it has most things), but it would be tricky to let people just vote for anyone they wanted wouldn't it? I can see why they have to have a shortlist. It would just be good if the shortlist wasn't a really ***** one, like it was this year. Like you, I've no complaints with the actual winner.

It’s partly been killed by the hyped-up coverage. Just insane noise, glitz, bright flashing lights, shouting presenters. It’s really irritating to watch that sort of stuff for any longer than 4 minutes. I don’t want to be absolutely hyped out of my mind for EVERY single sporting event. It’s sh*t. I blame the Americans. Same as the Boro’s ‘light show’ and dance music and strobe lights. F*ck off, will you. Some of this is SUPPOSED to be boring.
