Spurs prepared to move on from signing Spence!

Need London clubs more than any to get involved. Don't think he's really settled up here. There was talk of interest from Arsenal and Brentford at one stage. Let's hope they still maintain an interest and may interest Spence if Spurs won't pay what we want.
The price is set:

Forest £15m
Brentford £16m
Dortmund £17m
Arsenal £18m
Bayern £19m
Spurs £20m

I can’t believe we’re living in a world where a player like Spence can have 1 decent season (5 assists, 2 goals at Forest) after being average at best for the rest of his career to date, and be linked with Arsenal, Bayern, Spurs at £20m.
I know he’s young and English, and how that helps but come on. I preferred football when £20m bought you one of the countries best players.

Interesting if it's true they've already agreed terms with Spence. Tried to (sounds like currently successfully) remove other clubs from the equation then use that as leverage to try and force the price down.

Only problem is it only works while Spence digs in and says he only wants to join Spurs. What's he going to do if we refuse to sell on the cheap though? Go on strike? Throw his toys out the pram?

Apart from the fact he's kind of already played that card (I don't think we're worried about upsetting him further), that approach only really works if you're an established star. I'm not sure he's in a position to sulk in the reserves for a season. He'll sign for anyone throwing a premier League contract at him when it comes to the crunch.

Looks like a bit of an impasse? Spence wants Spurs but they obviously have other options. He might end up staying here. I can't imagine we ever budgeted for Spence transfer money as we sent him on loan last year, so anything is a bonus. Spence and his agent might have over played their hands here, if Spurs aren't prepared to pay and we aren't under pressure to sell?

If he does end up somewhere other than Spurs, you can't exactly imagine them rolling out the red carpet can you?

He’ll be no different to any other signing moving from one club to another.

Got his break at boro, developed on loan at Forrest now he goes to the highest bidder.

Can see him not going anywhere at this rate. Another 6months and we will flog him for 3million in January or something like that..

beacause - spurs have already agreed financial terms with Spence - its a big package at London rates - now Levy wants Boro to pay for the excess package by reducing the fee by a couple of million.

forest couldnt match the spurs financial terms & pay the asking price - levy has skewered the market.

Levy has an agreement with spence, but not with Gibson - most clubs do it the otherway round, but Levy is a fly guy and looks after Spurs interests very well (usually). this is the bloke who got £40Million off everton for deli alli !!
He really didn't get £40m for Alli at all. He went to Everton on a free with a heavily incentivised payment structure. He got nowhere near any of the triggers for the payments, apart from staying up I'd expect. If they paid more than £5m for him I'd be amazed

Dele Alli was a free transfer.

I believe incentives are paid based on number of appearances. IIRC was something like Everton owe Spurs £10m once Dele has made 20 league appearances. And the £40m is only paid if he makes 80 apps.

As a guess it’s likely £10m for every 20 apps up to £40m / 80 apps.

The problem is they have Kieran Trippier so they won’t be after any one in that position.

KT is fragile & at the end of his career... Spence is very much the future, if Newcastle really want to crash the top table - again - they need quality players in & as backup..

Doing a Chelsea & buying a player that also weakens your competitors is a sound tactic.. even just bidding to make Spurs pay more is a good tactic..

Conte will be raging on DL's door..

I think he’ll go out on loan to Everton 1st September, struggle to get up to speed with no proper pre season under his belt.
Return to boro in January to go outon loan to QPR

Back up to speed in the championship, boro don’t want to sell to a premier league rival and he’s no longer the big boys new play thing.

Summer 2023
£7m with a £2m promotion bonus to recently relegated Nottingham Forrest.
cigars and badge kissing all round!!

Summer 2024
after missing out on the playoffs West Ham come in with a solid £10m

Summer 2028
Djed leaves on a free after being on the fringes and a few intermittent bursts of magic

Jermaine Defoe’s Sunderland proves to be springboard back into the prem highlighted by a 2030 appearance on the league cup final.
Unfortunately a no holds barred approach from George Friend’s Middlesbrough leaves Djed to turn to MLS

Kai Kamara’s Sporting Kansas City are led by captain Djed Spence to his first trophy

I wouldn’t take bets on who that will be! But bet it’s not Levy
he might if conte really wants the player, however spurs go on a pre season tour mid july i think i read so no reason for levy to do a deal before then, are we happy to wait until then to get the deal we want or do we want to reinvest now and get our players in as early as possible, thats gibbo's/wilders call.

if spence has told them he wants spurs then no point in them bidding at this point.
But Spurs haven't had a bid accepted?

They can't legally speak to the player and agree terms without our permission, why would we give them that leverage/advantage without getting what we want out of the deal? (I know agents do it all the time)

If Forest 'really' want him and Spurs aren't making an offer at all currently what's to stop them sticking a 'take it or leave it' offer in to ourselves and Spence?

If Spurs don't bid, then Spence would be back training with us you would assume?

What have Forest got to lose if they do actually want him? Even if they offerd £8 million and £4million in add ons if they stay up etc.

They were desperate for him it seemed, lots of Spurs talk in the press, but no Forest talk at all, seems weird.
