Steve Gibson's fmttm Q and A - Thursday

Read a lot of the comments from the evening.

May have missed something but just wondering if he took personal responsibility for anything that didn’t work out?
He was very critical of Monk so I guess you could say that was him accepting he'd made a mistake appointing him, without actually saying it.

Sounds like a great evening and well done to Gibson for attending. It seems like he's been very honest with his answers. I'm a little disappointed that he wasn't asked about the state of the retail side of things and the lack of available stock. Ticket prices are the main bugbear for a lot of supporters. Did he offer an explanation as to why we are one of the most expensive in the whole of English football? Or why it costs the same for a child aged 5 or 6 as it does for a 17 year old to attend games as a walk up?

Apologies if this has been covered in a previous post somewhere as I may have missed it.

Graham Fordy signed off on it.
Never knew that, thanks for the info'
Theyve already said they are haven't they for our 150th year?
They said they'd redesign it for the 150th anniversary year with the fans having input, but unless I've misunderstood I didn't think the club had commented on if it would be permanently replaced or just a one off for the year.

The comments from Gibson give me hope it'll be a permanent badge change. 🤞

Regards the cheap price at preston blocked by a pillar. Im surprised at the discount for an obstructed viewas im sure even if youre blind at the match you pay full price despite seeing nothing. Unless anyome knows any better.

They said it was for the 2026/27 season and beyond, so it's definitely permanent.

I don't mind the badge......am I in a minority of 1? 😁😁
Not something that irks me either, im more bothered about having a proper white chest band (unlike this years rubbish compromise) and how sponser looks on the shirt.

The British managers got chance after chance after chance with a load of established Premier League clubs.

Allardyce, Moyes, Pulis, Redknapp, Pardew, Hughes, Souness, Hodgson, Rodgers, Bruce and Hughton at Bolton, Everton, West Ham, Southampton, Charlton, Blackburn, Spurs, Southampton, Portsmouth, West Brom, Newcastle, Liverpool, Fulham, Crystal Palace and Stoke. They’ve all had at least two of those managers in charge at some point, if not three. That’s a LOT of appointments and chances.

Then you have Lampard and Gerrard getting jobs well beyond their level of capability purely because of their reputation as players. You have Parker, Potter and O’Neil. McClaren. Nathan Jones. Tim Sherwood. Paul Lambert. Stuart Pearce. What happened when most of these people were given opportunities?

You have those who bring teams up like Rob Edwards, Nigel Pearson, Dean Smith, Neil Warnock, Steve Cooper, Eddie Howe got a chance at a ‘big’ club after a great job at Bournemouth. Chris Wilder. There’s loads and loads. The national team manager is English and taken the team to a World Cup semi-final and European Championships final. There are loads of younger coaches and managers throughout the leagues working their way up. If someone like Russell Martin or Kieran McKenna or even Michael Carrick takes their team up and keeps them up then they will be talked about for ‘bigger’ jobs.

Some of those I’ve listed aren’t English obviously but I think the narrative that British managers don’t get opportunities is hugely overblown. The very wealthiest clubs can go and get whoever they want, from wherever they want. Who from that list above are you going to choose ahead of the appointments made by those clubs in recent years?

The number of foreign managers, coaches and backroom staff just reflects the make up of the teams imo. I think bigger issue is why there is such a lack of BAME managers, coaches and directors in British football.
You forgot Phil Brown, who was tipped as the next England manager during his success at Hull City.

No, the question I had written down was why can't we categorise the junior pricing, rather than having one U18 category which covers all juniors. I should have just put my hand up but I'd thought they'd eventually get around to each table and all of the bits of paper would have been collected. I was sat on one of the back tables so I think that's why we got missed. Regretting it now but I'll know what to do at future events.

If I remember rightly there were only two questions asked in relation to ticket pricing. I think if I remember rightly an elderly gentleman mentioned that his 19 year old Grandson couldn't sit with them in the family zone next season and complained that the price for 18-21 year olds had gone up. This was when Gibson made the point that if he lowered that price it would probably mean increasing the price for juniors, and said it's difficult to find the right balance.

I think somebody did mention us having some of the most expensive tickets in the league but Gibson said we don't, but I don't think he expanded on that.

Gibson said we don't - I renewed for £510 and that's not more than most in our division??
