Well traditionally they protect the interests of their wealthy ageing Mail/Express readers who don't care about anything other than preserving their own little world, and equally don't really care who suffers (and they fully buy into the notion that those on benefits, visiting food banks etc have brought it upon themselves). Is that why no matter how awful they do so many seem to think they are wonderful.
I wonder how a by-election can be 'too close to call' when the Party hoping to take the seat from the incumbent hasn't even selected it's candidate yet?Hartlepool should be interesting. I’ve just looked at the odds on Betfair and it’s too close to call. Not long ago it would be unimaginable that a conservative could win that seat.
I’m just reflecting what the weight of money on the exchange is suggesting. It’s neck and neck on there.I wonder how a by-election can be 'too close to call' when the Party hoping to take the seat from the incumbent hasn't even selected it's candidate yet?
No I'm not disputing that Jim I just think how odd it is these days that views can be formed either way before the candidates have even been selected. Mid term by-elections should have a significant 'local' agenda. It's not as if it's deciding a GE result.I’m just reflecting what the weight of money on the exchange is suggesting. Can you explain how you think stockholm syndrome is applicable to following a political party? Is that why no matter how awful they do so many seem to think they are wonderful.
Presumably he thinks the working class voting Tory is akin to a victim falling under the spell of its abuser? Can you explain how you think stockholm syndrome is applicable to following a political party?

As a metaphor perhaps but even then it's a long stretch. Perhaps he doesn't understand what it is and how it comes about.Presumably he thinks the working class voting Tory is akin to a victim falling under the spell of its abuser?
Is that why no matter how awful they do so many seem to think they are wonderful.
That doesn't explain the love for the abuserLikely because the main opposition is absolutely pitiful.
I think there is possibly a skewed view on this forum too? Middlesbrough frequently ranks highly in those negative surveys, for things like crime, poverty, education and so on. Many other parts of the country don't have it so bad, and as a result perhaps aren't as critical of the government. Is that why no matter how awful they do so many seem to think they are wonderful.
Labour voting areas blaming their own councils for abject national government economic performance is one of the beauties I'm reading on social media at the moment.I think there is possibly a skewed view on this forum too?
