Yes we had players injured. We had players banned - through their own stupidity but that doesn’t excuse a gutless, spineless, disinterested couldn’t care less performance. I excuse Dieng, Engal and Latte Lath who actually cared about the red and white shirt they wore today. The rest, including Carrick who I lose faith in more every game were pathetic.
VDB - not a full back but some sympathy he played out of position.
Clarke - thrust in due to circumstances but clearly not match fit.
Fry - weak as water. Can’t pass can’t defend and bullied by average centre forwards. Embarrassing
Barsalar - a fraud - not a championship player - slow, dull and only impacts the game in his own half.
Howson - too slow, too ponderous past his best. Younger average players now embarrass him.
Greenwood - absolute disgrace today. Never seen a less disinterested disingenuous player in a Boro shirt. Walked through a big game.
Crooks - back to his worst ‘tree’ performance today. Couldn’t pass water, fouled stupidly and collected his usual yellow - a lump of a player who done nothing.
Rogers. Full of his own importance. Fur coat and no knickers players. Likes to look good but underneath gutless and pointless.

Carrick - 2-0 down and exchanges fulll backs?
Get Coburn on next to Latte Lath and have a bl00dy go. We are at home - 28,000 fans - don’t limp home. Show some fight and ambition.
Not felt this despondent in a long time - don’t mind losing but hate capitulation and spineless don’t care less performances.
As I say played with under strength side but doesn’t excuse not caring.
 
dael fry needed a move to refocus his career said it all season. 2nd goal today schoolboy stuff stood waving at the linesman instead of actually being goal side in the first place.

There is no doubt that this season hasn’t gone as we hoped so far, but we are 3 points off the play-offs with it all to play for. We may or may not get there; it’s the lack of certainty that makes football exciting.
 
We had to rely on the summer signings today, with so many others missing. That brief purple patch papered over the cracks, but most of them just aren't good enough.

I can take not good enough - what I can’t accept is not caring and not leaving everything on the pitch. The likes of Greenwood and Rogers could have been playing for anyone today - they don’t appear to have any passion for a Boro shirt.
Walking back over the North Ormesby flyover in a freezing wind and rain it was Carrick I was most angry with. He just accepted Ipswich were better than the team he could put out today and seemed to take a 2-0 loss. No ambition, no tactical nouse, no positivity in at least having a go by throwing Coburn on up front next to Latte Lath to at least have a go. When did we accept being second best? Need to show he cares as much as we do about a weekend being ruined by a gutless defeat.
 
Bad performance by most if not all the team today.

Rav out of sorts and at times had his shoulders down and looked disinterested.

Engel constantly passing backwards with no confidence in his overall play.

Players not showing for Barlaser and howson but far to slow in there play.

Crooks off day nothing working.
Greenwood, terrible and for me has offered very little in his overall play for weeks other than having a few goals to his game.
Rogers not strong enough for the size of him and needs to learn to protect the ball better and when to play and move.

Overall just think we had a really bad off day as Ipswich in my opinion offered very little other than they where 100% committed in all the basics of the game that we as a team weren't.

We move on and hopefully can improve !

We saw the same game! Wait until we go Two down make a first substition to hook a disinterested Greenwood. Then take off Engel who wasn't poor and replace him with another LB! We are two down -

Agree about the lack of substitutions I started a thread saying similar. Also why only use 2 , and 1 of those was taking off Engel - who was doing ok?
 
This is over reaction at its hissy fit best - we weren’t good but i think we were well in it till they scored. Wasn’t that impressed with Ipswich really to be honest. They are well organised but looked nothing special on that performance. I would like to have seen how they faired against a full strength Boro side. Having said that i agree that Carrick got a lot of things wrong today - injuries and suspensions definitely caught up with us today though
 
We have 9 players out injured / suspended, including Lenihan and Hackney who are both huge parts of the starting line up, and we played a team second from top who’ve only been beaten twice this season. Yes we didn’t play well but these things happen, you’d think we were bottom of the league with the way some of our fans go on. Rogers, like Forss, Silvera, Van Der Berg and others is a young player who needs time to grow and improve, these type of players will have bad games and make plenty of mistakes, it’s very rare for a young player to do what Hackney did last season

Three points - but six teams.

That's a lot of teams to overtake.
