The Ang Rayner Protest in Yarm

Am I being a bit dense, but wasn’t she doing what every student who is registered to vote at university and at home has always done. I thought it was only an offence to vote twice not to be registered to vote more than once?
Looking at the Electoral Commission website, it says that people can be registered in two places. Students are specifically mentioned, as are people who "spend time at different family addresses."

So actually, if she was registered at both addresses she should be fine. The problem would be if she was only registered at one address and if the complainant (James Daly) is right in alleging that it was the "wrong" one.

Another thing that occurs to me, is that we know a lot of MP's have second homes and some have at times incorrectly stated which was their primary residence (just think of the various expense scandals where this was an issue). So what are the chances that if investigations were done, there might not be other MP's (who knows, maybe even some Tories) who were registered at the "wrong" one at some point?

This could be opening up a whole can of worms.

Ang was my UNISON Rep about the same time.

She failed to stop our TUPE transfer to Carillion, shysters, who then, 3 years later, made me redundant under extremely dubious circumstances.

Think I've got a chance of suing her for damages......my feelings were really hurt at the time - or should I just go straight to the Daily Fail and sell my exclusive - compo face the lot.

🤔🤔

Nothing will come off this, I think we can all agree. The electorate probably don't give a hoot either. Let the tories flounder and down in their own stupidity.

It is galling that the tax payers are funding this when you can't get a house burglary investigated with any resources but that should be our gripe, not that raynor is being investigated.

If this does ‘go away’ and she stays dep leader after the election I hope she instigates a very serious look at the Tory giveaway to their mates, and the reasons why there was no effort to recoup large sums of misspent or pocketed loot. Revenge. The dish best eaten cold😉
You hope Labour would do this, like a ravenous dog after a juicy bone.

But I get the impression (hope I'm wrong) that easy targets will be investigated, light touch on others. Others - just kicked into the long grass.

"Sir" Kier is part of the establishment....... don't underestimate the lengths they will go to to cover their ar*es /make things go away........

I know where you’re coming from, and probably right.
She’s one of us…a lot of us all over the country. Working class lass speaking our language.
Everyone knows what’s been done. The vast amounts of misappropriated money and blatant preferences toward their own. Also the sheer incompetence.
There will be heavy pressure from the backbenchers and the countrywide membership.
But…??

To be clear my currency has lapsed a little and I have no direct experience of Steve Turner, although what I do know of him would suggest your view is fairly accurate.

I think policing in general has been overly politicised over the last decade, firstly with the introduction of the OPCC's and more recently by the current government.

Politics and policing should be kept at arms length.
I agree, but I am not confident that it is!

Hence why I think this current investigation is shameless. It is past the statute of limitations according to the law and has been investigated and reopened on the whim of a Tory minister. Not a good look for the plod at all.

100% agree with your sentiment though.

The state. A guy in sunglasses who has eaten too many pies, a guy in a suit with white trainers destroying sane fashion sense, a girl with dyed blonde hair with terrible roots and gilet posing Instagram style, a d*ck taking the selfie, a dubious looking spiv in a beige coat, and blue trainers that don’t go, a token ethnic minority pushed to the back and two short women at the front one of whom must be called Karen.
