The best year for music?

Couldn't even narrow it down to a decade, never mind a specific year.
Oh the best decade must be the 70s?
Punk, new wave, disco, glam rock, two tone, metal, ska, prog etc all had their (, debatable) haydays in the 70s?
Well maybe not ska, more the 60s

I honestly don't know, mate. I love loads of stuff from the seventies, but I love loads of stuff from the sixties and the eighties and the nineties and the noughties as well. I don't listen to that much new music these days. I keep meaning to wade through the new music thread on here but I never seem to get around to it.

I'm with you on this one and have found all different genres since the 70's. What I liked in the 70's will not be the same as what I like today.

1967 a great year.Add Everlasting Love by Love Affair.Sorry to be pedantic but Substitute was 1966.

Whiter Shade of Pale reminds me of the summer of 1981 and drinking cheap cider in the Eston Royal. I had worked the Smith's Dock summer holidays to avoid Charles & Di's wedding and had the next two weeks off after that. I met up with a good friend of mine Ces, and we went to the Royal every day and got blathered.

It was the time of the 3.30 closing, so we would go over to the Eston Tute or the Cally Club until the pubs opened again at 5.30.

I wish I was that age again.
