Yet still they are set to grow faster than the UK according to figures from a couple of weeks ago. Crazy.

Not sure that this will turn out to be the case. The most recent changes to Russian oil and gas prices will take a while to feed through. Konstantin on Inside Russia is an economist by trade. His dissection of the state of the Russian economy is probably going to give a better picture.

This is one of the few threads that has not been hijacked by those wishing to make an anti-government, or anti-Brexit point.
Let’s keep it this way please.
(From a pro-EU, anti-government poster).

If this isn't the real Putin, he's dead and this is one of his doubles, who writing the scripts and what do they expect to now achieve? Or have they simply gone too far down the rabbit hole and can't/won't go back due to macho pride and perceived loss of face?

And thousands more will die for absolutely no reason ☹️

How do we think this ends? I was listening to some self proclaimed expert on a podcast last week. He was stating that historically Russia are terrible in year 1 of a conflict and then they just throw men at it until they come our on top. He expects come May/June once the ground dries up that Russia will have up to 500k troops to send in. Does Ukraine withstand this, does it stop with Ukraine?

Sticking to WW2 they used flesh and blood and relied on the West to supply iron and steel. One of these is not going to happen this time unless the Chinese step in.

As for weather changing them the superior Ukrainian manouverablity will be the defining factor.

It will be horrible to watch, a bit like this speech.

Yes - Either outcome means hundreds of thousands of lives.

The world is absolutely horrible at the moment

This speech sounds like could have been given to The Supreme Soviet of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics anytime from 1936 onwards.

I wonder if our man has any update on the China situation? Not so long ago he reported China moving closer to the West and even supplying munitions via Pakistan. The spy balloons have come along since then, which may just be politics and smokescreen, or an actual halt/reversal in that direction of movement.
