The folly of going into the season with an incomplete squad

Really? They were fully aware of the number of players released in ample time and what was needed. To that end they have failed to deliver. So unfortunately the blame is very much with the club.
The only way to guarantee early arrivals and quality is to pay over the odds, unless there's players on free or untested. Never the less we have brought in 8 players so far.
Many clubs are in the same posiition and it's absolutely a product of the transfer window

The problem is, we missed out on the playoffs by 5 points last season. We have dropped more than that already. You can blame the transfer window all you want but ultimately, the club knew what they needed and to go into the season with low numbers is naive.

Wilder needs to sort his team selection out also as his team selection is baffling and has cost us points on more than one occasion.

Everyone does it. More importantly, it's not a choice, it's a matter of necessity, so the issue of folly doesn't arise.

You'll never be able to prove we'd have had more points by now if we'd got deals done earlier.
Likewise, I'll never be able to prove that we do better over the season for waiting to get the right player at the right price.

Either way, fans will be demanding new signings in January, that's for certain. The concept of a "complete squad" is folly; we'll always be one or two players away from what we need in the fans eyes.

"Naive", that suggests you think it's what they planned/wanted, which it isn't.

Regarding the points dropped, it doesn't make a great deal of sense.

It’s the usual “get the men in early” only for a rush of deadline day signings or “we just couldn’t get them over the line”

Don’t give a monkeys about other clubs to be honest. However as you raise it Hull and Cardiff both with a reasonable turnover of players are doing infinitely better than us!
I'm not sure if you know what infinitely means, but it doesn't mean 4 points or even 5 points.

An incomplete squad is regrettable but hardly folly. We are dependent on the decisions of other clubs. In effect, we await the scraps from the rich men's tables. The problem appears starker this year because the season has started so early (world cup), but with no adjustment of the window.

As I posted on another thread my main issue is targeting players who's clubs don't want to sell them, investing a lot of time on this is very high risk.

The Times this morning did a list of all the Prem players not wanted by anybody because their wages are Sky high.

When we haven’t won a game my terminology is correct. Be interesting if we miss out on a playoff spot by a couple of points how many will then share the same sentiments.

2 more points dropped needlessly last night- so frustrating. The club stated they wanted to get their transfer business early. For one reason or another we are still 4/5 players short - and it is costing us dearly up front.

Some of the boards posters keep reminding us the window is open. Whilst true the fact remains we have tossed points away giving our rivals a damn good start over us.

The proof is there to be seen - our squad numerically and also from a quality aspect isn’t good enough- much to our cost.
We were a team that needed a massive makeover, this was Wilder's first pre-season and first real chance to shake up the squad to have the abilities he needed. But also he had to get players out. We've done 17 deals in and out, plus let another 7 go (loan returns, out of contract, or released for being 'injured' all season). That's a huge turnaround and it takes time for the jigsaw to fall into place.

Yes it's cost us points, but it was also necessary

I'd rather we get the right players in rather than the wrong players quickly. We've been down that road before and it hamstrings you for 3 or 4 years.

Hull and Cardiff have won two of their four games. Two more than us. Not an infinite amount more than us.
After 46 games a couple of points still won't be an infinite amount. It will be 2.
So your terminology is incorrect.
