The National

From a protester
Helps us all understand (not necessarily agree)

It’s an eloquent article but sadly I don’t think the racing industry will take any notice. They will just double down on trying to blame the protestors.

All of them?

What about the thousands of horses bred for racing each year that don’t make the grade and are destroyed? Are they well looked after?
Destroyed? Thousands? Really?

Plus if you knew anything about healthcare in horses (which you don't given you believe they are shot) then you'd know it's nigh on impossible to fix a broken leg on a horse.

13,000 foals bred into the racing community each year. So yes, thousands of them won’t make the grade. What are you saying happens to them?

It’s interesting that I posted the details from the Animal Action investigation/factsheet earlier and not a single pro-racing poster has claimed any of their facts are inaccurate.

I watch and bet on the national but if they banned it tomorrow I’d accept it.Ultimately horse racing is an industry for human entertainment, and it’s hard to justify the deaths regardless of the care the horses get.How many like horse racing but are against fox hunting and field sports, a dichotomy that shows the absurdity of humans.

There's two things going on in this thread.

Some posters like Nosmo and AET are just looking for reasons to attack me individually because they have little better to do,
Ever stopped to wonder why people have a go at you?

Oh and I’ve done loads today - frankly I couldn’t be arsed sitting in front of a computer all day having a silly row about the ethics of horse racing.
See, anger and negativity. That's all you are capable of.
takes one to know one doesn’t it
I'd much rather you just ignored me if I'm honest, you bring only negativity and anger.
I’ve had you on ignore for months.

Anyway to answer the OP I had a tenner on Delta Work. So won nowt.

Oh I'm not pro or anti racing. 👍

So what's the plan then Sherlock?

Because you don't like it it should be banned?
It shouldn't be banned because I don't like it.

It should be banned because it's barbaric.

I started in this thread thinking only the Grand National should be banned. Several posters told me I didn't know enough so I've spent a couple of days looking into things to educate myself better. I have now concluded that it should be banned entirely and that the 'caring' industry front is just that...a front.

Anybody defending it should hang their heads in shame.

Only just caught up on this thread but fully agree with you that horse racing or at least the fence races should be banned and the same goes for Greyhound racing. We rescued a Greyhound 2 years ago and are looking to rescue another one this year, beautiful creatures they are, many of which are treated horrendously and aren't given what they need to live happy and fulfilled lives.

I have no idea how you've been made out to be the bad guy on this thread, people can disgaree or whatever but I genuinely don't understand the abuse you've taken just because you'd rather horses didn't die for our entertainment.

Thanks for that, I'm a little bemused myself to be honest.
