* The Original Unofficial "Official" Boro v Hull Match-Day Thread *

What a captain Howson is. Centre mid, right back, centre back. Wherever he's needed, even within games, and makes it look no trouble whatsoever.

Brilliant that it seems to be rubbing off on Hackney also. That's two games in a row he's started the match in one position and had to shift when injuries have come up and he's been excellent both times.
Stick him up front v Luton, rest Archer. Get him the goal he deserves 😂

Well, that's the playoffs cemented lads, and what a way to do it👍😁

Yeah I know not mathematically, but if anyone thinks that ALL OF THE FOLLOWING WILL HAPPEN; Blackburn are going to win all of 4 of their remaining stinkers of a fixture list, West Brom all 4 of theirs AND Millwall to win all 3 of theirs and overturn a 22 goal deficit to us whilst they're at it, then you either need shipping off to the nuthouse, or your name is Ex-Footy legs or Dontheking😁
It would also mean Blackburn and Millwall both getting 3 points when they play each other 🙈

nailed that. Hats off stu. That's a team, playing beyond its constituent parts,

Plenty of my thoughts have been voiced already by others, but worth airing these:

1) A few teams recently seen to have come up with a half decent plan to counter our slick passing game. The return of Izzy might just give us our Plan B.

2) Second goal. Route one. Steffen to Archer and a goal. Plan C as well?

3) Liam Rosenior is a class act. Hull are lucky to have him, and I wish him all the best.

plan c is always valid. best played like a surprise party. like tonight

I much prefer Dijksteel at right back, faster and altogether more mobile than Smith who has struggled of late

There's lots I prefer about Dijksteel. He's a better athlete and, for my money, a technically better player than Smith.

Where I think Smith is better is mentally. AD does have the odd lapse; Smith is more consistent and reliable, but I think AD is capable of the higher standard of play.

I didn't think the balance of midfield worked tonight; Mowett came on and did well Vs Norwich, but we were 1 up at that point, and that's very different than starting 0-0. In the absence of McGree or Ramsey, I felt we were a little short on flair and creativity first half.

Just got back home. It really is a pain when they decide to close main roads (like the A19) ... slow going.

Bit like us in the first half. Ponderous.
I like Smith. He's solid as a defender, but offers little offensively.

Dijksteel and Jones flipped the game on its head. Terrified the Hull left side of defence.
There were several occasions in the first half when Archer was standing more or less unmarked .. McNair, instead of playing straight through the middle to him, sprayed it wide.
Finally it came straight down the middle to Archer and he scores.

The second half was really enjoyable. I do like the fact that with this Boro side, going a goal down doesn't feel like a problem. You just feel they'll score a few.
