* The Original Unofficial "Official" Boro v Rotherham United Match-Day Thread *

Disappointing how flat the game was, we knocked the ball about pretty well even with 10 men but lacked intensity and especially cutting edge. Just wasn't there today.

Nothing to panic about. McGree scores after 10 mins, we are never losing that game......but meh.

Onto Coventry.....at home .....full house......players returning. Be a different game 👍

Big one is Fry. If he doesn't play against Coventry, can't see him playing again this season. Would be a big ask for him to come back in one of the play-off games, having not played regularly for the best part of a month/6 weeks.
We won't see Fry again this season. His injury from when Branthwaite booted him in the face is not healing properly and is causing him problems.

That's not good news. Never mind this season, his career could be on the line if that is the case. Surprised as that occurred nearly two years ago. Must be some long term thing that never got fully investigated or satisfactorily resolved. Hope he gets better.

I'm not doubting what you're saying, but where do you hear that from? I thought Carrick said it was an Achilles problem and then a knock on his ankle.

Will be funny if Stroud is the referee for Huddersfield v Reading!
I was trying to recall which game Stroud reffed at the Riverside this season. Turns out it was the Reading game that we won 5-0. Fortunately all his dodgy decisions went our way, a 1st half penalty for hand ball that I thought was a bit harsh and denying Reading a penalty when Tommy Smith brought Shane Long down (potential red card as well).
Perhaps he realised his mistake and decided to give it retrospectively to Dijksteel today.🙂

Carrick’s update from April:

"He's had a couple. He got a bang on his ankle last minute against Preston that set him back in the international week. Then he had a bit of a problem with his Achilles so it's not been one problem.“

it was a nothing game and it showed.... a few players bottled out of 50.50s (as i think they should considering we have 2 possibly 3 cup finals coming up,,,,

Someone who knows him. Its why he's been wearing the mask this season.
That is very sad and really concerning at the same time.
It was passed off as if nothing happened and he looked in agony - covered in blood.
Another example of the ref being an arzole - not even a yellow card to Branthwaite.
