* The Unofficial "Official" Boro v Stoke Match - Day Thread *

Not a bad game this. Hopefully we can drag ourselves back into it in the second half. A few below par performances, the centre backs, the wide attacker's in particular.

Stoke deservedly ahead.

Very sloppy first half - sloppy passing, sloppy marking, sloppy defending.

Still we could have had a couple of goals (thought Coburn should have scored when he hit the bar) and not out of the game but got to be a lot better than that.

Long way to go, next goal the winner I think.

Will they be able to maintain that high line and press or will they naturally drop deeper to defend the lead?

LL could cause them problems, their keeper is very old school and a bit of a donkey on the ball, would fancy LL to pinch it off him.

Coburn has been great but had little support.
I think Howson is showing his age now, flashes of good stuff but does not have the legs to be a starter for us anymore.
Greenwood needs to track back more and give Engel some cover.
We can still salvage something here, they have space in behind and we have went through them a few times already.

The run had to end and we did fear a setback today. Shows Hackney is key to our midfield.
Not sure Hackney is the reason we can't pass the ball to each other.

Very sloppy today. Called it after 5 minutes, latte lath will get plenty of chances running of the shoulder of defenders. They have a very high line and he will destroy them for pace.

The game is not over, we have had chances and will get more in the second half, you can't be confident of keeping a clean sheet in the second half though.
