Today at Middlesbrough council..

This is a football message board; I'm really getting sick of people throwing around their political agendas on here. Its bad enough when posts turn into complete arguments around politics, without local counsellors coming on here now pushing their agenda. Yes, I would feel the same regardless of which party it was. I really think we need to have a separate section for this kind of stuff.
It's a social media forum, mainly used by supporters of MFC. It had its roots in the FMTTM fanzine but has never, to my knowledge, been exclusively about football.

Why did you first off open it as the title probably shows its going to be a political thread. Then why do you feel the need to push your own agenda for a separate section. The board is not just a football website otherwise it would have likely died years ago. Its the diversity that keeps it interesting IMO. If you want separate sections scoot across to COB. They have them but I have never read anything but one thread on there(The Transfer Rumours post when the window is open). The board has worked well since it migrated from the original site and I think that was fine as well.

Just because you don't like something it does not mean it has to be changed.

I've been on here for years and politics has always played a prominent role, I don't think it needs a designated section. I like how this board is a mash up of loads of topics.

If you don't want to read political threads just don't click on them?
Politics is definitely more prominent than it was say 10 yrs ago. Probably because of the focus on brexit, Boris, covid and so on.
It was definitely an easier board to interact with when it was mainly football, music & food (plus seagulls and rolling stock).

I've been on this board for around 18 years, and it's definitely getting worse and worse for politics and less and less football discussion.

Maybe he could lay off the sneaky insinuations. e.g. "Guess who owns property in the Town Center".

And also not labeling things as FACT when he's been a bit sneaky with his statements..

"He wants to cut in half the roads and paths budget, so roads will get worse, much worse, as will paths."

What is actually being suggested is they cut the proposed increase in spend on the roads/paths from £15m to £7.5m. So they're suggesting £7.5m more spent on roads than is currently being spent.. not cutting in half what they currently spend.

Cheeky Lodger.

Correct, it's never been purely football, but it was a good amount of football with other bits mixed in, you just need to look at the 1st page now to know it's a general discussion forum, with a little football thrown in. And as for people saying why open the post and comment on it if you don't like it. well, it would be pretty stupid opening a post on Football and moaning about all the political threads.

My main point though was why we have a local Counseller coming on pushing his agenda, It just doesn't seem right to me.

As an interested onlooker (I’m in N. Yorks, which has just decided to scrap District Councils), I’d say it was a fact.
I'm from Stokesley, but don't live there now? what are they doing with the local district councils? are they abandoning Hambleden etc, and bringing it all under the umbrella of North Yorkshire County council?

If you don't like it on here then other Boro message boards are available. They're all pretty rubbish compared to this place though.
There isn't another decent Boro message board, and at times can still be good, However it just seems every post is now turning into an argument, and 9times out of 10 its around politics

If that is true then it is more than cheeky.
It is lying.

Not true, if you think we're getting an extra £7.5m rather than an extra £15m to spend on Middlesbrough roads, you've not been paying attention for the last 13 years.
