Tom Davies

Everton offered him a new deal, he could have accepted that and been a bit part again. But he’s turned it down in the search of game time. Hardly ‘toxic Tom’ maybe not quite good Enough to be starting for them Tom.

He will have plenty of suitors in England and abroad.
I am not saying he is toxic. Labelled that by fans who watched him. They are in a pretty desperate situation so never going to let people go just like that but fans don’t seem upset to see him walk. Not sure he will get “plenty of suitors”. We shall see. All I hope is that we are not one of them.

No idea what finances would look like, but Ben Pearson at Bournemouth is available and I was a big fan whenever he played against us for Preston. Chewy ball winner who can play a bit too (y)

Gone to stoke, but yes would have been a good fit.

He will have plenty of suitors, he’s a 25 year old free agent who’s had a fair bit of premier league experience now who is leaving his boyhood club for the right reasons, because he wants to go out and play. Hopefully we are one of them.

Not sure about this if true, he was poor last season, and couldn't cement a place in a struggling Everton team.
He was on a 4yr contract worth reportedly 5.2M, annual salary average 1.3M. He was offered another contract but rejected the deal, saying he "wanted playing time", however some reports are suggesting he wasn't offered close to his last contract, due to his lack of form.
I think the truth is a bit of both.
Is he the type of midfielder we need? he is not a Howson type player, and we need a Howson replacement/alternative.

No way do I believe this player would be a “revelation”. He has lost his way and Everton fans happy to see the back of him. Toxic Tom they called him.

No team quick to sign him as a free agent. It’s a firm No Thanks from me.
I feel like a lot of that perception was due to the external side of the game. Him and Calvert-Lewin having interests in the fashion world, not dressing conventionally, and the perception that this involvement distracted from their performances.

The truth is that I wouldn’t buy into the frustrations of a setup which is far more dysfunctional than ours and arguably far more broken than ours has been at any point since 1986. Everton fans were no more privy to those conversations than we are, and Dyche evidently must have liked him as he offered him a new deal.

Merson had been perceived to have “lost his way” prior to coming to Boro. Ziege. Mendieta. Schwarzer. Bernie Slaven. Gaston Ramirez. John Hickton. We took those players in, gave them a home, and they shone, be it briefly, or for many, many years. I’m willing to give Davies the chance to do the same, and think he could do so.

Can't see us even looking at him if there was not a chance we could afford his "package" (fnar fnar).

Take him on trial for a couple of weeks then look shocked when he demands £40-50k week.

Must be willing to accept our £20-25k top whack or he wouldn't have bothered going to Portugal.

Let's see.

I think a number of players use that particular facility in Portugal to get themselves in shape for their own club's pre-season programme. Entirely voluntary by the sounds of it. The players pay for it themselves and let's face it they can afford to.

Davies could potentially be excellent at this level. We definitely need a defensive midfielder bringing in.

I'd be looking at trying to get Ethan Ampadu on loan from Chelsea if there's no truth in the Davies rumour. 22 years old and already been capped 44 times for Wales.
