If Labour are to gain/keep seats in council elections then we need to set the bar higher for candidates.

I think you will have to accept that unless there is an economic miracle the Tories are finished.

It’s a shame for them after spending 30 years trying hard to win back a big majority like 2019 but they’ve blown it, people across the spectrum are struggling to make ends meet now.

True, I said most of the country.
On current polls the tories would be completely wiped out.
The recent local election saw the tory vote share drop to the lowest in over 150 years.
Seems no matter how far Labour are ahead its not enough for some

I don't disagree but easier said than done. My perception is local councils tend to attract a type, regardless of party affiliation.

For every good councillor there seems to be at least 2 self centred idiots. Hard to weed them all out I imagine, particularly given how subjective it is.
 
I said on another thread that's local politics for you. Two Independents coming home in 3rd and 4th managed 25% of the vote between them. Really disappointing.

Hopefully he'll be able to sort out the issues with Eston baths, been rumbling on for months and months with nothing sorted 👍

The ones thinking a Labour majority is a foregone conclusion are probably the same who gave Corbyn a cat in hells chance or predicted a strong remain victory.

Fair enough but as a keen swimmer I am interested in this facility. It appears not much has happened here so let's hope the new guy can get something done 👍
 
Well Im afraid I voted for the tories & Brexit, so im classed as scum & a stain on the area & an embarrseament too

To save anyone the embarrassment of replying to my future posts I'll stay off here for a while
