Toyosi Olusanya

Is wikipedia right? If so, he has hardly played any non league football, let alone anything higher level. Or have I misunderstood?

Dean Windass, Jordan Hugill?

They're obviously few and far between but they are out there. Pro clubs are of course better are hoovering up talent these days, but players will still inevitably slip through the cracks given the sheer number of kids clubs look at and recruit.

Some will take a bit longer to mature physically and/or mentally. Some will just be a bit unlucky.

No harm spreading the net as wide as possible. It's a funny sport, what makes a player "good" isn't always immediately obvious, even to top coaches. You can have all the ability in the world (Ravel Morrison) and still not translate that to success.

Think it's harder to find the stats for non-league so often not included in wiki.

Mind their manager implied he hadn't played much first team footy, so sounds like in this case he hasn't for some reason.

It's an absolute 'none gamble'. He is costing nothing and probably straight into the under 23s on a two year deal.

He definitely isn't a signing for now and doesn't solve the lack of another forward.

I wonder what the wages are for someone like this . 100k a year would surely be an improvement on what he’s on . There must be a minimum for this type of signing . I dare say his contract will be performance based

I’d be surprised if it’s more than £1k a week with a signing on fee to help him find somewhere to live locally.

I assume that it depends on what he's been brought in for? To have a good look at him? Or we see him as a first team squad player and we're planning on giving him minutes.

But I do like the approach of looking at kids who've had a good grounding elsewhere but not quite made it as a pro.

A couple of years away, after having their childhood dreams slip away might see them come back more focused and determined to show what they can do and win a proper pro contract.

Small outlay for us, and loads to gain if we get a player who does the business and a Prem club comes sniffing or he fires us to promotion.

Even 2k a week would be a massive and 'life changing' payrise. I could do a lot with 8k a month. I very much doubt he's on 100k a year.

It's probably heavily stacked with clauses based on appearances etc. The gaffer says he's coming in as a first team squad player and not U23s. So they must see something.

It's an absolute none gamble. I imagine he could even be loaned out in Jan to a league 1 or 2 club.

I do like the old 'Roy of the Rovers' types. It's almost a dying thing these days. You just don't see players being 'found' in early 20s from none leagues.

Does anyone know anything about him? Was wondering if he was rapid like Jones or maybe a tricky player. A touchline hugger who likes to beat a man and cross or more of a right sided midfielder. It's an intriguing signing and we still don't seem to be sure if he goes into the first team or reserve squad.

Think he’s someone who can play as a striker and wide in a front 3. Apparently he’s left footed so wouldn’t surprise me if he’s been brought in because of what’s happened to Ameobi so we may see him used on the right of a front 3 cutting in
