Trump again

There is so much junk being written about hydroxychloroquine. Too much for me to get into in detail right now, but is it just coincidence that the FDA is approving the use of Remdesivir despite pretty flimsy evidence of it having a positive effect and at the same time talking up of all of these dangers of hydroxychloroquine?

There currently hasn't been a good study/trial for hydroxychloroquine (possibly used in combination with other drugs) and I would question why not? Some of the trials do seem to have almost been set up to fail.

Hydroxychloroquine has been used as an anti malarial drug (hundreds of millions of doses) around the world, serious side-effects are RARE (multiple sources for this, here's one: https://www.rheumatology.org/I-Am-A/Patient-Caregiver/Treatments/Hydroxychloroquine-Plaquenil). Now, in combination with other drugs or when used in the case of a particular illness that can of course change but hydroxychloroquine is safe. Again, used worldwide (hundreds of millions of doses). There have been anecdotal reports of it being successful in treatment and when used prophylactically or very early after infection, but proper studies are needed. Pointless when used in severe cases (when it has been studied, no wonder it showed no positive results - same for an antiviral, needs to be used EARLY).

It is legitimate to wonder what angle the FDA are coming from here and why more insightful studies have not been carried out. One angle would be the money angle.

I had dreadful side effects after taking hydroxychloroquinine for three weeks as an antimalarial that took me more than two years to recover from.
