Wagamama vegan protein food

We often go to Wagamama Leicester when visiting, but having the new one open at Teesside park has given more opportunity to try different things.

Quite surprised how good the vegan stuff is. Pretty convincing meat alternatives.

I think they declared they will go fully vegan at some point, or at least half their menu?
Thats me out then. Sick of places and people trying to push vegan on us. What happened to choice.
Get the Guardian and their food magazine on s Saturday is nearly always vegan yet as far as I am aware the vast majority of the population are still meat eaters. Why isn't magazine refli this in the right proportion.

Around 98% population are non vegan

I wouldn't’ worry too much about choice there are 000’s and 000’s left for you

I don't think it's an issue of journalists not catering to the 99% or cutting out the regular customers, it's more about including others.
Yes, going vegan is a choice, but there are plenty of other dietary requirements that make eating out a pain and more choice and information is good.
I very much doubt Wagamama would jeopardize the business by alienating meat eaters.

There is a demographic in London of middle class "activists" that are in fashionable industries like journalism, cafes/bars and media so they think the things that their bubble experience is the same nationwide.

This time of year though a lot of people do veganuary so it's an easy topic for content creators to use.

@1finny is right though. Vegans are a small percent of the population and there is plenty more choice for non-vegans than there are for vegans. It is a topic that is discussed/highlighted etc that is overrepresented but nothing is stopping you ignoring it and choosing something else.

Sales for Vegan foods are trending downwards with a lot of supermarkets reducing their ranges. So restaurants would only be hurting themselves if doing so. Anyway, each to their own.

I don't think that's to do with there being less vegans, I think it's because vegans won't pay ridiculous prices just because something is vegan when the meat version is cheaper. Meat alternatives need to be a fair price. If animal products weren't subsidised it would be alot more expensive.

The choice is don’t choose vegan 🤷‍♂️ I don‘t choose meat, that’s what happened to choice, you can choose. Not sure what the magazine refli.

I have been vegan for about 10 days. But I honestly don’t remember feeling like it was being “pushed” on me in any way. I made the leap (from vegetarian) purely out of choice.

To say vegan food is being pushed on anyone is laughable. They may have long term ambitions for a 100% vegan menu but any decision to go ahead with it will be determined by market demand and the quality of whatever they serve as an alternative. It’s probably not going to happen any time soon and there will be any number of alternative places to eat if they do.

you better be careful Asred, the vegan police will be straight round your house and give you wedgie if you do not conform to the forced vegan diet they are pushing on you.
Or you could just not feel forced to do something nobody is forcing you to do.
And nothing has happened to choice, you can choose to eat meat or not, and you can choose to be offended by people being vegan and not eating meat or not.
You obviously chose the option to be offended, so there you go, exercising your free choice.
And you even chose to go onto a post about it to show your level of offence, again, another example of you exercising your choice.

Vegan foods? Fruit, veg, spices, rice, pasta, grains, oil, flour etc - that‘s what most of us use to cook great tasting food from scratch.

The processed stuff i- there was massive proliferation of range last year and tons of duplication.

I find it bizzare just home many meat eaters are triggered by Veganism in general.

You have NEVER been forced to eat vegan food, against your will. Makes me wonder who the real snowflakes are.

If you dont like vegan food, then dont eat it. If you dont like establishments who offer vegan food, then dont go there. Its really not that difficult.

These businesses arent adding vegan food out of the goodness of their hearts, despite what their marketing tells you. They are doing it because they can make money.

Not only can they make more profits from vegan food, but they also open up more potential business by offering some vegan dishes. If a group of 6 people are going out to eat, and only 1 of them is a vegan, then the whole group will go somewhere where there are options, so the restaurant now has 6 additional covers just because 1 guest is a vegan.

I call it "Veganomincs" (and the TM is pending)
