Warnock on Roberts

Never realised he said ‘ did he do anything when he came on’ about him last night. Bit harsh that. Wonder what his problem is with him.
Needs a run in the team can't freeze him out for a month then say he's 10,15, 20 minutes to save the game for us

Agree, he will be peeved off and will start to think he is only used when desperate. A player needs full trust of their manager to perform to their best.

I think warnock said what he said last night about roberts on the back on a leading question...and feeling criticised by the bbc tees question in terms of why isn't roberts getting a chance. touched a nerve for warnock.

It was a fair enough question though to be honest, no need for the cocky response in my opinion. Drury should of followed up with another question explaining why he thinks he should be used more rather than backing down.

I agree...but it showed that Warnock is feeling the heat otherwise he wouldn't of bit like he did.

My worry for some time now has been that it's become one of those scenarios where the manager is scared to play a player due to the risk of losing face.

If Roberts comes in and does well Warnock will be made to look silly for not playing him.

It looks like the same situation he had with Tomlin at Cardiff where the fans wanted him to play and he just never did, like us with Roberts

I've defended his exclusion whilst our midfield have been performing well. In the last two games the midfield has been appalling and there was not one decent performance last night (possible exception of Johnson), we now have Howson injured, Tavernier exhausted, Morsy unfit and Saville out of form.

Let's see what he can do starting. He's not Juninho, but he just might be enough to at least get us on the front foot.

I'd start him and Wing on Saturday on the simple philosophy "how much worse could it possibly be..."
Wing to start..... Great for our profile

In a one off game I don’t see why Wing can’t come in to see how he fairs. If he’s ***** he is easily droppable again. Howson might be injured and is playing through pain according to Warnock. Saville has been poor and out of sort in last 4 games, and Morsy has looked unfit. So I see no reason why Wing can’t come in and see what he can do, like I say if he’s crap he’s an easy player to drop again. But let’s not pretend our midfield was good last night or at the weekend because it wasn’t.
I think in the same way Jones will be tested on the right wing, Dodds in to be tested in defence, I think Hayden Hackney will be given a chance in midfield..

Wing definitely isn't a Warnock type player. He wants central midfielders to be good without the ball firstly, intelligently limiting the opposition chances to look up and play. I don't mind Wing with the ball at his feet but he's tactically and positionally naive beyond belief (Northern League up bringing?)
When Wing was playing in the NL he was purely a goalscorer, nothing else.

Van La Parra
Jordan Rhodes
Patrick Roberts

when I started watching the Boro back in the eighties I can’t remember this happening?
Even Peter Davenport got a regular starting spot for goodness sake.

Our scouts and recruitment team must be thick.
