We got a slice of luck…

I couldn’t attend tonight as had child duties, but it was funny listening to some of the half time texts on BBC Tees. It felt like some Boro fans were very angry with the referee for giving a very soft Red card.

One in particular criticising Howson for his reaction. Howson gets caught a little bit and he made a meal of it, but for me, he’s shown a bit of gamesmanship. Other sides have done it to us in the past so i have no problem with it, especially given the game situation.

It was a huge turning point in the game and we looked like we were in for a difficult night beforehand.

However, I still don’t get what their midfielder is doing spinning round and lifting his legs from the floor up towards JH. He didn’t kick out but he catches him. If that was a Boro player I’d be fuming with him for giving the Referee some kind of decision to make. That said, I’d still be very aggrieved as a Norwich fan tonight as it wasn’t a red IMO.

What I would say, is that we’ve been on the end of some awful decisions this season (penalties not given and goals incorrectly given offside etc.). We’ve been long overdue one going our way.

Much needed win. Given our recent form, I don’t care how the points come at the moment, as long as we can get out of this slump.

My mate said as soon as it happent thats a red card. Will watch it again.
I think it’s one of those that in real-time might have looked worse than the replays showed. It wouldn’t surprise me if kicking out went through his head and then he thought the better of it.

The way he spun and stuck his legs up in the air was the inexplicable part. He ultimately gave the referee the chance to send him off, as harsh as it was. It was just silly on their players part.

That’s the advantage of us going to the match tonight. The home crowd affected the game. Their player reacted and we all shouted “Off, off, off”. It affected the referee, he sent the player off and we won the game. Well done the home crowd. (y) 🙌

It was never a red and I don't think he made any form of contact just another example of how poor the officials are in this league, massive get out of jail card as it was going to be a long night up until that point

The irony was it was Clarke's miscontrol that led to them coming together
I didn't see him kick out - but if he did he deserved to be sent off
Was surprised how they collapsed after it though

We have had our fair share of bad luck so a bit of good luck is well recieved.
We did well the way we went at them once the red card was shown. They couldn't get over how infair it was to them.
However make no mistake , they were the dominant team for the first 30 mins and I thought we were in for a hammering at home again.
Let's hope this changes our confidence levels and we go on a run. UTB.

watched it replay on Boro Live a few times and looked like the Norwich lad spun his foot round to Howsons thigh ... not a hard touch but still made contact ... soft red but he did it 100%

I didn't watch live - so was expecting a terrible decision when I saw the red.

Really difficult to judge - someone posted the Beckham 98 sending off and I think that was a good analogy.

An absolute nothing incident but I do think he intentionally puts his studs down Howson's thigh.

So... I think letter of the law a red and the ref won't be criticised by the powers that be for it, but any sensible ref gives a yellow.

Will be interesting to see if it is rescinded

A soft one for sure but to do that 3 yards from the ref is brainless. Howson wasn't ridiculous in his reaction.

Just watched the replay and I can see why the ref sent him off. There was no good reason for his foot to be raised like it was. Stupid thing to do. Watch the reaction of one of his teammates who tells him to get off. Bit soft but I don't think they will get that overturned on appeal.

The thing that would annoy me if I was a Norwich fan was they went from almost complete domination to abject surrender for the loss of one player.
